Logan's Back

[Wolverine: has metal fingers]
Written by GL

You know by now that Marvel Entertainment is planning to spin-off Wolverine and Magento as disparate shows. After reading this, you'll know how serious they are about it.

Oscar-nominated cinematographer Donald McAlpine has joined the growing crew of the movie to be known as Wolverine. McApline has been nominated for an Academy Award for his work on Moulin Rouge, as well as being credited for other shows such as Predator, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

In addition to this big name cinematographer, the news is that director Gavin Hood and his crew are currently scouting for locations in New Zealand this week.

With such a vast amount of work and skill going into it, the movie can't go wrong. Let's hope this is the end of the Catwoman curse (you know what I'm talking about).

The League Is Official

[The Justice League: unstoppable]
Written by GL

Rumors were circulating that a movie adaptation of the Justice League were in the works. Now, you don't have to worry about it any more. It's official.

DC Comics' Justice League is going to happen.

Warner Bros. push ahead with a big screen adaptation of your favorite league of heroes, with George Miller (director of Happy Feet) on board. The project, is in the starting phases of casting, and is considered a priority for the studio company. This movie is to be the ultimate driving superhero show of 2009.

Because a lot of other superhero projects are in the works, making the film flow is going to be a complicated process. With Superman and Batman to be shown in the movie, co-ordination with other movies starring these characters is needed.

Word on the street is that the next installment of Superman is being put on hold for the Justice League movie. Warner Bros. is so keen on the Justice League script recently drafted by Kieran and Michele Mulroney.

The Justice League movie will likely feature the characters of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash and Aquaman. But no Green Lantern *sigh*. Casting the actors for their roles is going to be just as important (amidst rumors that Brandon Routh and Christian Bale will not be Superman and Batman respectively in this show).

How long have you waited for this movie to finally start rolling? How many years?

The Cast Is Punished

[Lexi Alexander: the director of the upcoming re-vamp]

The newest news on the front about the coming-soon Frank Castle flick is that it's going to titled Punisher: War Zone. And, the cast has been announced (the main actors, in any case).

Lexi Alexander (the director, shown above) has announced three new actors to the show on her official website, lexialexander.com.

'There are not a lot of directors in the process of making a studio action film who can say that they don't have at least one bad actor somebody made them cast. I can say that. Still. (Knocking on every piece of wood as I speak),' Alexander says, 'I have the best cast on the planet. The movie Gods were watching over me.'

Joining Ray Stevenson (who'll be playing the Punisher himself) are Dash Mihok as Detective Martin Soap, Colin Salmon as Agent Paul Budiansky, and Doug Hutchinson as Loony Bin Jim.

She also boasts that she has the best, best, best person in line for Jigsaw - the main bad-guy and all-around not-nice-fella.

Check out the link above to see the actors matched to their comic-character portrayals. Lionsgate is targeting this movie for a 2008 release.

Written by Kal-El

Hey guys, my sincere apologise for the delay on updates for this site, been terribly busy with work i havent really got the time to even sit still on my PC, but anyways, managed to get things done and got some breathing room and now things are getting slower by the day.

So here it is guys, The exact contents of this case are subject to change, but it is likely to contain one each of the 5 core figures listed below as well as a sixth figure (variant or duplicate).
  • Classic Blue & Grey Batman

  • The Demon Etrigan

  • Orion

  • Penguin

  • Red Tornado Modern

These 5 figures will each include the Build-A-Figure pieces needed to form the bonus Metamorpho figure. The sixth figure in the case may be one of the two variants listed below and pictured below on the right:

  • Red Tornado Classic (Variant)

  • Penguin w/Robotic Penguin (Variant)
Again, we cannot guarantee any specific case assortments, but with the inclusion of Build-A-Figure parts, it seems logical that they would include one of each of the 5 main figures that each contain one of the parts needed to build Metamorpho. Poll Result: I Am Superman

Written By Donald Blake

Well, the poll is in and as I expected, there is a wide variety of special talents and abilities that people out there would enjoy being gifted with. I also had a feeling that our final choice of “I Am Superman!” would attract at least one soul out there, let alone 4!

Some of the lucky guys with this talent include heroes like Cyclops and Gunfire. Able to form solid concussive blasts and focus them onto targets with devastating effect; i most certainly would start running if I fell into their cross-hairs.

How many methods are there to encourage flight? More than you would expect. Some have made use of magic (Zatanna); by thermal-chemical reaction (Human Torch), some manipulate gravity (Magneto), while others depend on the mind (Jean Grey). How peaceful would it be to just have a nap on the verge of space the way superman does.

The list of things that one can do with teleportation abilities is extraordinary; limited to the imagination only. Nothing is perfect however and very often there is a limitation. In the case of NightCrawler, he has to be able to visualize his destination or he just might end up in the middle of a wall, a fear which is shared by Kal-El.

Regeneration, my personal favorite. Why? There is no better gift than the ability to grow back tissue and flesh and bone and…well…everything! This power however wouldn’t sit too well with Muslims and Jews. Especially when the time comes for circumcisions.

There are heaps of superheroes and villains that hold complete mastery over particular elements and unleash their gifts to extraordinary effect. Ice-Man and Pyro stare at each other across a length of battlefield ready to hurl ice shards and fire balls while Storm and Thor face off for the title of undisputed lord of the skies. Meanwhile, in the DC universe one could easily see Poison Ivy summoning giant vines to form a protective wall against the incoming Tsunami launched at her by Aquaman. Ok. It might sound a little melodramatic but hey, anythings possible on War World!

Then there is your classic super strength and endurance abilities which have been put into devastating effect by individuals such as Colossus and the Juggernaut who now no longer need to turn the door-knob.

Metamorphosis which can be used to change one’s shape into an animal, an inanimate object or another person is the ultimate ability in the covert world. Whether you are a con-man, super spy or a sneaky thief, this talent will get you far.

Since light travels faster than sound, if you happen to be taking part in a Track & Field event where the starting point is furthest away from the referee with the pistol; it would be possible for the Flash to finish the race before the referee even says “Go!”

Telekinesis is an ability that is put to amazing use by some of the most powerful heroes and villains in any known comic universe. Everything and anything that any one person can accomplish physically; just imagine being able to do it mentally. I believe, in Star Wars they called it the ‘Force’. Wouldn’t you want to be a Jedi Knight?

Thank you all voters for sharing your opinions with us but it seems quite obvious that a lot of people think “Why have 1 gift, when I can have all” Based on “I am Superman” having received the greatest number of votes – 4. There is another individual however that believed in the very same philosophy. I believe they called him Sylar. Till next time.

Iron Tease

[Tony Stark: way cooler than Robert Downey Jr.]
Written by GL

If you don't already know it, Iron Man is coming out at a cinema closer to you than you think. Everything is going on well with the production side and the hype for it is through the roof. It seems that Marvel Entertainment is sparing no expense for the marketing of this movie; from the effects to the brand names that support the movie (the Stark car hint).

The teaser trailer for the show is out and it looks totally awesome. I believe this movie will truly do the image of Iron Man (and Marvel) proud.

Check it out at Apple Trailers: Iron Man

The Wolverine Is Coming

[Hugh Jackman: adamantium claws are in fashion]
Written by GL

20th Century Fox has notified fans that the X-Men spin-off of Wolverine is starting shooting this November. And Hugh Jackman is returning as the title character.

The word on the street is while the previous three X-Men films were shot in Vancouver, British Columbia (that's in Canada), this new spin-off will be shot in Sydney, Australia - a warmer feel with a more acrid feel. Seems like a pretty good place to feature the origins of Wolverine.

The film will be directed by South-African, Gavin Hood (best known as the award-winning director of Tsotsi, an international film that won cargo containers full of trophies) from a script by David Benioff (the writer of Troy).

How professional does this production team sound? It seems like Hollywood can almost guarantee that Wolverine the movie won't be anywhere near as lacking as X-Men: The Last Stand.

Ghost Gift

Written by GL

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be releasing a Ghost Rider Gift Set on November 13. The gift set will feature a two-disc extended cut of Ghost Rider with 15 minutes of extra footage and over two hours of special features, along with an exclusive limited edition figure of the flaming Ghost Rider. The figure is cast in heavyweight polystone with accurate-to-the-movie costuming detail (including his signature chains).

The Ghost Rider Gift Set will be going for for US$59.95 (or B$90). You'll behind the scenes with DVD bonus featurettes - 'Spirit of Vengeance' and 'Spirit of Adventure', as well as listen to commentaries with writer/director Mark Steven Johnson (who also did Daredevil), visual effects supervisor Kevin Mack, and producer Gary Foster. The extended cut DVD includes an additional behind-the-scenes featurette called 'Spirit of Execution', along with a series called 'Sin and Salvation' which helps fans through the history of the Ghost Rider comics. Fans will also get a look at the computer animation behind Ghost Rider.

The Extended Cut of Ghost Rider features an additional 15 minutes of never-before-seen footage, including more backstory between Johnny Blaze (played by good old Nick Cage) and his father, additional scenes between Johnny and Mephistopheles (played by Henry Fonda), even confrontation between the Caretaker and Blackheart.

This is truly a must-get for Marvel to Ghost Rider to plain superhero fans.

Poll Result: Why Does The Punisher Wear A Big White Skull

The House of El
Would Like to Introduce to all our readers, Donald Blake will be our information Support and is a new addition to this Blogspot. Donald will be joining us from now on as he early missions will be providing us with teaser questions that will boogle-your-mind and as well as hand you a hand full of facts to go with. So without further a do, i Present to you, Donald Blake, Justice League Information Support. - Kal-El

Distracting the enemy from his unprotected head by targeting his armored torso is not only the answer to last weeks poll but is a carefully planned strategy that has proven to criminals time and time again that the Punisher is more than just muscles and guns. He is a man on a mission; a very resourceful vigilante with a sharp mind.

Captain Frank Castle, a born warrior who was inducted into the Marines rose to prominence early in his military career and would you have doubted him? Let’s see…a former U.S Marine Captain who has undergone hardcore training by S.E.A.L (Sea, Air & Land), U.D.T (Underwater Demolition Team) and LRPA (Long Range Patrol). A master in multiple hand to hand combat techniques and trained in the use of high-tech weaponry. A soldier who’s distinguished service in Vietnam led to being awarded 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Silver Stars and 4 Purple Hearts. A family man who believed his role in the military allowed him to protect his nation and ultimately his family. No, I certainly would not have doubted his capabilities.

[Unethical]

The Punisher, an anti-hero of sorts, is revered by the public who crave “Hard Justice” through revenge and other methods that may seem immoral at times. It is in this aspect that he can be compared with Batman. Both have experienced personal loss and tragedy on a scale that can never be imagined by most people. Both have been successful in their personal quests for revenge by sinking to the darkest depths of morality. Both have had their operations assisted as well as disrupted by superheroes. Despite declaring war on crime in all its forms anywhere he can find it, the Punisher operates mainly in New York which has led to frequent encounters with Spider-Man and Daredevil. He views them both as being annoyances but has teamed up with Spider-Man on a few occasions.

[Punisher Says Smile]

Daredevil on the other hand has clashed with the Punisher repeatedly as the lawyer from Hells Kitchen truly believes in the American Legal System while the Punisher has fought wars for his country only to find the very people he fought for have failed miserably in bringing his family’s killers to justice. Like Spider-Man, there is no crime too small for him to ignore but unlike Spider-Man, the consequences are always severe. So think twice before stealing that Mars Bar from your local corner shop, or you just might end up with a hollow point in your head. Thanks to all who tried the poll and good luck with the next one!
