Desaadistic

I would hate to live on Apokolips; however, I'm sure the experience would be memorable. 

Imagine a world where you are faced with the threat of painful and non-immediate death each and every day - from being mauled by building-sized dogs to being zipped by Darkseid's heat-seeking-like omega beams. Yes, it would be an eventful life which would probably leave you paranoid for life and on a one way trip to Ward 9 at RIPAS pretty quickly. While we (at the House of El) have never really explored the characters of that make up the hellhole that is Apokolips, what better time to do that than now on this bright Tuesday (post-holiday) morning?

Jack Kirby created a whole host of characters to fill up his Fourth World / New Gods world; many of these characters have become a mainstay in the minds of DC fans for a number of years. On Apokolips, we are apt to remember the great and monstrous Darkseid, but we will probably never forget Desaad.

Desaad is one of the most well-known followers of Darkseid. He is Darkseid's master torturer and has had a colorful origins story.

Desaad's first recorded appearance in the history of the DC Universe was as peon and asskisser at the side of Drax, heir to Apokolips. At the time of his appearance, the character had already taken on the name Desaad and was known by no other name.

Desaad's origins (in the comic story lines) were told during a chess game between Darkseid and Eclipso. Darkseid shared how he had corrupted an innocent young boy by tricking him into believing the boy's pet cat had killed his other pet, a bird. Urged and verbally poisoning the boy to avenge the bird, Darkseid managed to manipulates the youth into burying the cat alive. The bird returned only to be also murdered by this young man in question. He eventually left New Genesis to become Darkseid's lackey.

Desaad appeared to be helping Drax with his attempt to master the Omega force. In actual fact, he was plotting with Uxas (Drax's brother ). As a result Drax was presumed killed, and Uxas mastered the Omega force and took the god-name Darkseid. Desaad went on to serve as Darkseid's torturer.

The Apokolips torturer has been seen, since then, in the DC Universe, still well and alive and continuing his malicious mechanizations throughout the Final Crisis story line; at one time, even possessing Mary Marvel.

Desaad by nature is a sadist and a coward. He is naturally treacherous, but is sufficiently afraid of Darkseid that he will not turn against his master unless someone else takes the lead (and will probably switch sides again if it looks like they will fail). Desaad has no powers of his own, relying instead on his intellect, inventiveness and scientific skill along with Darkseid's protection. He is immortal as all New Gods are.

The character of Desaad has appeared in numerous adaptations, from the 1980s incarnations of the Superfriends cartoon, The Legendary Super Powers Show and Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians to the Young Justice series, where in the episode "Disordered" he is shown as a supplyer of Apokolips weapons to Intergang. This version is somewhat gross and deformed, as shown by his face and hands.

Desaad was included in Series 12 of Mattel's DC Universe Classic toys, patterned after his appearance in the earlier Kenner Super Powers Collection.

Pre-Avengers Syndrome

The Avengers movie has been getting everyone all excited of late, but we’ve still got months to go before the film  and its for-sure-to-be-awesome action Figures. Thor, Hawkeye, Captain America and the Black Widow look like they jumped straight off the comics page (they even come with tiny versions of Ant-Man and the Wasp!)

So here a few things you could actually look into breaking open a set of Marvel Select Avengers figures from Diamond Select Toys, Ooo these Marvel Select looks good! 

Booster On Syfy

Syfy has ordered a pilot based on the DC Comics character Booster Gold. "Fringe" writer Andrew Kreisberg has been tasked with writing the pilot.

Created by Dan Jurgens in 1986 and featured in his own series, Booster Gold is the superhero identity of Michael Jon Carter, a resident of the 25th century who travels back in time to the present day DC Universe, making use of his futuristic technology to become a hero - instead signing endorsement deals and shamelessly self-promoting himself as a noble savior.

Booster Gold was featured in the final season of "Smallville" where he teamed with both Clark Kent and Blue Beetle.

Almost every 30 year old fans out there will be as estatic as we are for this very next posts. It's the Transformers - Generation 1 Masterpiece. Now im all for some good Transformer's movie (Michael Bay's version) but nothing and i mean nothing can even come close to the Original Generations 1 version of the transformer series.Storyline was good, A lot of crafty characthers, they dont die easily and Megatron was still a gun.

Now let's get to it, Optimus Prime.......What was your favorite forms of Optimus Prime? Was it the Armada series Priime? Animated Series Prime? Cybertronian Prime? Primal Prime? Beast Prime? Alternate Prime? Mac Truck Prime? Or just simply the original Optimus Prime? Being said that, we at the House of El love this first generation of Optimus Prime particularly and plus voiced originally by Peter Cullen.

The Latest Masterpiece class from Takara of the original form of the ever courages braveheart leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime now comes in a newer mold. This brand new version of Optimus Prime is sculpted to more closely resemble the animated G1 character, and also includes both his trailer with repair bay and Roller. In addition, this set features a Spike figure, Optimus' orange Energy Ax, the Autobot Matrix of Leadship and his blaster rifle that can fold in half and store in his back. This version of Prime is sized to go with the Rodimus and Grimlock Masterpiece figures, so be sure to get this figure to fit in with the rest of the newer Masterpiece figures. Older fans who didnt manage to buy them when they were kids can now get this...(Im one of them).

Now following in Optimus Prime's footstep, the second 1st generation autobots to be only be worthy of the Matrix of leadership is Hot Rod...Or when the music by Stan Bush kicks in, he grew taller and transformed to a new autobot leader, Rodimus Prime aka the chosen one. Hot Rod appeared in Transformers: The Movie, initially serving as a companion to the young Daniel. Kup served as Hot Rod’s built-in fencing device, the former frequently coaching the latter on his impetuous ways and mild disregard for rules and regulations. Using his retractable visor, Hot Rod was the first of the Autobots (those stationed at Autobot City) to detect the presence of the Decepticons aboard the incoming Autobot shuttle. Later, on Quintessa, Hot Rod deployed his buzzsaw to escape the misguided affections of a mechanical squid, and used his welding torch to repair the battered and dismembered Kup. Ultimately, within the labyrinthine bowels of Unicron, Hot Rod retrieved the misappropriated Matrix of Leadership from the crazed Galvatron, and was imbued with a transcendent glow as the Matrix transformed the outmatched Hot Rod into the dauntless Rodimus Prime. Rodimus’ heightened strength was such that he easily defeated Galvatron, which left the new Autobot leader with the final task of unleashing the remaining power of the Matrix to destroy Unicron.

Takara's Masterpiece has released a second one, this time around is to have corrected the flaws of the original version. The MP-09 Masterpiece Rodimus Prime is accompanied by Trailer/Mobile Defense Bay, Photon Eliminator, buzzsaw, welding torch, and Matrix of Leadership accessory. MP-09 Rodimus Prime is designed to enact the physical metamorphosis of the smaller Hot Rod into the noticeably larger Rodimus Prime; a switch-out feature swaps the younger Hot Rod likeness for the sterner Rodimus Prime likeness; Hot Rod’s twin Photon Lasers can be joined to create Rodimus’ Photon Eliminator. The metamorphosis is similarly reflected in vehicle modes, enabling Hot Rod’s sleek car mode to covert into a modified carrier for the trailer component; the Mobile Defense Bay, contained within the trailer, is equipped with a double-barreled cannon. All Takara as yet to do is create a mold for Galvatron!

Things Of Beauty

Fan-boys like to think that every movie Joss Whedon touches turns to well-spun gold. It seems that that's coming true when one looks at all the hype surrounding the upcoming Marvel feature, The Avengers. 

If you didn't already know, the epic film will be pulling together as much of Marvel's greatest and most-loved heroes together in a plot to save the world (under the leadership of Nick Fury). The featured characters run the gauntlet from movie-showcased heroes such as Thor, Cap(tain America), Iron Man, to side-liners such as Black Widow and Hawk-eye. Fans will also be treated to a third re-version of Bruce Banner.

Needless to say, the newly released banners (info courtesy of Superherohype.com) look super-licious !

New Costume.....Good or Bad?

This new rebooted franchise of Spider-Man will be released next year in July 2012. Expect an origins storyline how Peter Parker will try to balance out being a normal Teenage Boy with Girl issues and also an alter ego Superheroes with super powers after being bitten by a radioactive super spider bug.

Vibranium Production

The Famous Shield made out of Vibranium.

When you ask a kid what's Vibranium, maybe 1 out of 20 would probably understand or know what it is? 

Good afternoon dear readers, is a nice saturday today so i thought of sharing some cool facts about the Vibranium Sheild, what makes it indestructible and how cap manages to quickly unstrap it from his back side to pouncing it to the red skull's face!.

Vibranium is a metal compound that appears in the Marvel Universe. It is most commonly known as one of the materials used to construct Captain America's shield, but it is also noted for its connection to the Black Panther and his native homeland of Wakanda which is considered Wakanda's secret technology and is able to be weaponised.

One of the most famously known for use is the construction of Captain America's Shield.

Vibranium is used in the creation of one of Hawkeye's "Trick Arrows", the arrows deaden kinetic and vibratory energies.

It has been revealed that X-Men member Colossus, who can turn into a metal version of his human form, is vulnerable to vibranium when he is using his powers, although his body will return instinctively to human form when confronted with a vibranium weapon.

Agent Zero wears a vibranium-weave body armor that makes him completely silent as he moves.

The U.S. Agent uses vibranium for both a disk he uses as a shield and a Star Shield. What a rip off if you ask me.

This one is an interesting one. Every wall, both interior and exterior of the Avengers Tower is made of a vibranium reinforced concrete.Of Course this is why Tony Stark is friends with The Black Panther. Talk about being high tech huh.

Last but not least, coming from the mainland it self, The Black Panther uses vibranium in a micro weave mesh in his uniform that robs incoming objects of their momentum.He also cannot be stabbed, although the costume and the Black Panther can be cut if the attacker slashes along the uniform's grain. Beyond that he uses vibranium in the soles of his boots that allows him to survive a fall of several stories and, if given enough momentum, the Panther can also scale walls or skim across water. The field can be also used offensively to shatter or weaken objects, such as kicking something with the boots. He also used the other variety Anti-Metal, in retractable claws.

Batman :: Arkham City - Best Game Ever Made

Well here we are again, Right after Arkhma Asylum comes the much anticipated Sequel, Arkham City. Probabbly in my own view, its recommended to not just any Batman fan, but gamers all around who loves a good storyline, skillfull fightscene and also a pretty good goddamn graphics!

Welcome to Arkham City!

Not to far away from Arkham Asylum, this story picks up right after the battle between Bats and The Joker, Now Bats have more enemies in this City trying to take him out.....But...you know what...im not gonna spoil it much for everybody so im gonna stop there.

My ratings for this is not biase at all, but ive got to admit, its a big 10/10, ***** stars if you ask me and GL. All around a much good fun game, that has so many stuff to do, even after you complete the game.

Catwoman is downloadable, also just got the release news that you can have Nightwing DLC for an amount of 5 Pounds on PSN and Xbox.

Arkham City is publicaly available world wide, if you havent got it yet....time to get one!

Mattel Reveals DC Universe All-Stars Action Figures For 2012



First Wave for DC Universe All-Stars

With news on the rise we got today all over the toysites, as you might know currently Mattel's DC Universe Classics line will wrap with its 20th wave, But luckyly enough, it has not ended, this line and is probabbly still worth getting for its 6 Inch size, as you know, Marvel stop all 6"inch figure line up, and went 3.5"Inch just like Star Wars line. 

This is a positive sign from DC Comics, with more of the toymaker's 6" superhero figures being released through the DC Comics All-Stars line in 2012. Found this on BBTS,  on MattyCollector, the first retail mix of figures from this new line will include Larfleeze, Superboy Prime in Anti-Monitor, an evil Flashpoint Plastic Man and Batman Beyond.

The All-Stars line gives collectors their first non DC Direct Larfleeze, Flashpoint Plastic Man and Superboy Prime. Batman Beyond is a re-release from the 4th DC Universe Classics wave, which also included an unmasked variant of the character.

Though the Batman Beyond figure seems to come with a batarang (But its exactly the same as the Universe Line) and Larfleeze has his Orange Central Power Battery, accessories seem sparse on the other two figures. This might change by the time the toys arrive at retail, but compared to the DCUC SDCC 2010 exclusive Plastic Man's numerous rubbery attachments, this Flashpoint All-Star definitely comes up short in the accessory department.

Hot Toys, who does know this brands nowadays? Well to be honest we have known HT to be around in years already, but we've never manage to grow into it....Until now!

Iron Monger - Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane in the first installment of the new Ironman franchise igniting Robert Downey Jr's career by performing as the big battle with Ironman, Iron Monger has finally touched down to balanced out the number of Ironman HT figures with his big bulky metal suit. The Iron Monger is stated to be release 2nd Quarter 2012.Go Big or Go home!

Who is Baby Doll? Who is Amber? Who is Emily Browning? We dont know, new characthers, New Actoress. When i saw the teaser poster for Sucker Punch, i thought must be some sort of a chick flick! After seeing, i ended watching and liking this movie, twice in a row! Turns our Zack Snyder was directing this so whats their to lose, i mean he did directed a few of the most talked about movies with the likes of Frank Miller's 300 & Watchmen, not to mentioned soon to be out Superman : Man of Steel! Both Sucker Punching Girls, Baby Doll and Amber were released for Pre-order, as usual, its still available on BBTS. Expected to arrived by 4th Quarter this year. Damn hot figures.

Ah yes, Spider-Man 3 featured not only The elusive Spider-kicking-@$$-man but also avalable is his Best Friend Foe, The New Goblin, HT has managed to acquire James Franco license head mold, as accurate as it can be, but unfortunately, Spidey this time around will not be able to get rid of his mask, as HT was not able to get Tobey's face on board, i wonder whose face will it be, if you open it?

Both figures are available, not on BBTS though, maybe require to do some search in eBAY.

Will if it isnt about time they remake this true american hero symbol from Marvel Comics, Captain America whom was potrayed by Chris Evans was brilliantly done and did justice for Captain America, with his origin storyline ties in with the upcoming and Most anticipated movie, The Avengers, sure proved to the world, there is no way no one is gonna miss this movie, The Avengers are due out sometime next year, Both this year's Thor and Capt had given us hints as to what will happen in the new Avengers movie. And possibly more Hot Toys to come. Captain America's Hot Toys has its sheild shinning away, this 12 Inch figure is a must for all Cap fans out there, this should be out by now (Nov 2011), somehow BBTS has not yet notify me of my HT Cap figure.

Yeah it might be one sided, Marvel did get approached by HT for their movie licenses, but its mainly because of the movie industries, Marvel has moved up to the heights of Hollywood status. Iron Man 2 Mark II Unleashed a second Mark II for HT Iron man line. This one's featured Don Cheadle as Rhodey. HT Figure is due to arrive next year, but what have arrived this year is the Iron Man Mark V if your colours is Red and Silver.

Lastly i will end this HT special with one of the coolest things i've ever saw, now i admit that there's probbably alot of this next figure around the world, but the setup is a Gantry for the Iron Man suit, this whole set up will blow holes in your wallet! Check out the picture of the Mark IV (my favourite Suit) and will feature Robert Downey accurate face scuplt too! Available for Pre-order now at BBTS, just not sure of the price is worth goin for. I may be crazy, but im actually thinking of getting this. *Choke*

For collectors who already own a Hot Toys Iron Man Mark VI, the Suit Up Gantry is available for Order separately. But at a staggering price of $359.99, I am not sure that helps a lot. Price aside, the Suit Up Gantry is a great 12 Inch Environment to go with your Hot Toys Iron Man (That's what you want!!) and the 3 layered convertible gantry base looks really cool.
