The Yellow Lantern

Yes, I remember that disillusioned feeling upon leaving the cinema as the credits for the Green Lantern fled across the screen - as a true Corps fan and overall Green Lantern collector, I wanted so hard to like it more than any other superhero movie that had come before, but could help but feel a little let down. And, I guess, a little bit had to do earlier with the choice of casting for Hal Jordan.

In an interview on 22 March with Empire magazine, Ryan Reynolds explained that he's not planning on reprising his Hal Jordan role anytime soon.

"I saw how difficult it is to make that concept palatable," he explains, "and how confused it all can be when you don't really know exactly where you're going with it or you don't really know how to access that world properly. That world comic book fans have been accessing for decades and falling in love with. So at this point I have very little interest in joining that kind of world."

He's not willing to completely rule out the possibility that the right creative team could change his mind, however.

"[A] great script and a good director can always turn that around," he admits. "...I believe that Joss Whedon is the guy that just nails it and Christopher Nolan obviously nails it. So if they were gonna do it like that, it would be an interesting thing to do."
