The Flash Is Coming

[David Dobkin: taking on the fastest man alive]
Written by GL

Awesome news! Director David Dobkin has signed with Warner Bros. for The Flash.

Dobkin (also known for directing the buddy comedy Wedding Crashers) says this adaptation won't be the character's first appearance in theaters; since The Flash will have a major part in George Miller's upcoming Justice League movie. Dobkin confirmed that his movie will be set in the same universe as Justice League, as a direct spin-off.

He added that The Flash they will use is Wally West.

I can take this news with it's pros and cons.

The movie-game for Iron Man is hitting the XBox 360 scene pretty hard: and let me be the first to state (even as someone who's not such a big follower of the console) the game captures look totally awesome. I suggest you have a look. You. Will. Be. Amazed.

The Face Of Young Logan

This 11 years old fella is set to play the big bad Wolverine as a child in the upcoming X-Men Origins spin-off. Filming for the movie starts this December, and with the budget as huge as it's rumored to be, we should be expecting quite a show.

11 years old. I don't even have a suit.

Remember Millar For The Sequel?

[Mark Millar: so that's what he looks like]
Written by GL

Just a few days ago, Kal-El mentioned that Mark Millar was serious about writing the story for the Superman Returns sequel. The official news now is that that Warner Bros. has thrown out the idea. Why, I hear you ask?

Here's what Mark Millar had to report (and you'll be surprised to find why he was rejected for this project:

"I had a massive three-picture epic in mind, cribbed from notes I've been putting together for the last five years for a Superman comic-book revamp and the people I spoke to absolutely loved it. Everyone said this was very, very exciting, but...

Well, sadly, I'm a Marvel guy and we were surprised to find out that WB couldn't hire me for a DC property. They were incredibly nice and superbly apologetic about it, but when they discussed the matter seriously DC explained just how associated I am with Marvel Comics at the moment and it's against company policy to hire the competition. It's absolutely nothing personal. I spoke to some friends at DC and they explained this has happened with a couple of big Marvel writers in the last couple of years and I absolutely respect that.

So no Millar-penned Superman movie at this stage, I'm afraid. In the meantime, I'm keeping my 200 pages of notes and sketches on a slow boil, just in case. They're talking to a couple of guys with a better screen-writing track record and, like the rest of you, I'll keep my fingers crossed that this sequel to Bryan's first picture all works out great.

Thanks again for all the support and backing for my involvement in this project. It stunned me that the WB people had seen this and it absolutely factored in how quickly all those doors opened for me."

Interesting development, super-friends.

Rushing The Movies

[Logan: having too much hair is cool]
Written by GL

The Los Angeles Times published an interesting article a while back about certain movies that writers are rushing to finish-off by a deadline. Included in this list of movies are are G.I. Joe and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

'Our writers on every project are working under inhuman amounts of pressure,' said G.I. Joe producer, Lorenzo di Bonaventura. G.I. Joe is going to be Paramount Pictures' blockbuster movie for summer 2009. Keeping in mind that just last week, it wasn't even given the green light.

Part of the writers-team Stuart Beattie, from the nominated Collateral.

Just last week, 20th Century Fox issued an announcement that the studio has bragging rights for May 1, 2009, as the release date for the big-budget X-Men Origins: Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman.

Keep your ears to the ground, dudes and dudettes.

Superman Writers Not Returning for Super Sequel

[ Who will write for the Man of Steel?]

Written by Kal-El

Word is out on Superman's latest sequel movie development that Superman Returns screenwriters Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris will not to come back and write a sequel to the 2006 summer film that would have reunited them with Bryan Singer, reports Variety. The three also worked together on X2: X-Men United previously.

As a result, Warner Bros. is now taking pitches for The Man of Steel's next outing from other writers just as the studio is trying to figure out which actor will don the character's tights in Justice League. Brandon Routh will likely wear the "S" on his chest again. Legendary Pictures is co-developing and co-financing the project, which is expected to up the action quotient.

With the news that Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris are not returning to write the Superman Returns sequel, Mark Millar wants to pitch Warner Bros. his vision of the franchise.

He says on his official boards:
It's 8.58am right now, my guys at CAA get into the office in about seven hours and my call will be waiting for them to talk about this. I want to revamp Superman like Hillary wants thin ankles. Revamping this franchise is what I as given fingers for and so, invited or not, I'm putting my plan together now. I've been asked to work on half a dozen screenplays lately, but this is the only one I have ever truly wanted.

As most here know, I have literally hundreds of pages of notes and sketches just waiting for this opportunity. This would be my dream gig and, as a fan, I know exactly what this project needs to work. This has to be Superman for the 21st Century, keeping everything we adore, but starting from scratch and making the kids love it as much as the 30-somethings. I would honestly write this thing for free.

Anyway, my treatment is being polished as we type. Wish me luck. I want to do that Superman movie we all want to see.

Who will get the pitch to write? We dont know, Stay tune for more news as it develops.

Keepin' em Cold

Written by Kal-El

We hardly know of The Flash's Supervillian, other than the notorious Gorilla Grodd and The Tricksters, But just so recent, a personal close friend of mine name EoF had passed me some old classic videos of 90's The Flash Season episode series, and the villains on the show had somewhat inspired me to want to do a piece of origins on a particular supervillian of The Flash, to which intrigue my interest towards him. So here we go.
He is known to the criminal world in central city as Captain Cold, also known as Leonard Snart, he is one of many enemies of The Fastest Man Alive aka The Flash. He got his name after his parka costume and the "Cold Gun" he wields. A fan favourite, Captain Cold has been the bitter enemy of the Silver-Age Flash Barry Allen and both friend and enemy to the modern-day Flash Wally West. Interesting fact huh.

Known for being a sympathetic super-villain in the Flash's Rogues Gallery, Captain Cold can chat over a cup of coffee whilst planning a heist against The Keystone City Bank over the weekend. Cold began his career shortly after Barry Allen's debut as the second Flash back in February 1959.

Leonard Snart was raised by an abusive father and took refuge with his grandfather, who worked in an ice truck. When his grandfather died, Leo grew tired of his father's abuse and set out to start a criminal career. Snart joined up with a group of small-time thieves and in planning out a robbery, each was issued a gun and a visor to protect their eyes against the flashes of gunfire. This visor design would later be adapted by Snart into his trademark costume. In recent years he has added a radio receiver to them which picks up the police band to monitor local law enforcement. Snart and the other thugs were captured by the Flash and imprisoned, but Leonard Snart is a man who holds a grudge. He decided to go solo, but knew he had to do something about the local hero, the Flash.

Snart read an article that theorized that the energy emissions of a cyclotron could interfere with the Flash's speed. He designed a weapon to harness that power and broke into a cyclotron lab, intending to use the device to charge up his experimental gun. As he was finishing his experiment, a security guard surprised Snart. Intending to use his gun only to scare the guard, he inadvertently pulled the trigger and discovered that his weapon had been altered in a way he had never imagined. The moisture in the air around the guard froze. Intrigued by this twist of fate, Snart donned a parka and the aforementioned visor and declared himself to be Captain Cold - the man who mastered absolute zero. Snart then committed a series of non-lethal crimes. But after Barry Allen's death, during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Captain Cold became a bounty hunter with his sister Lisa, the Golden Glider.
["Feel my Cold Gun...Scum]
During the events of Underworld Unleashed, Captain Cold lost his soul to Neron but Wally West brought it back to the land of the living. He soon returned to crime, this time a member of Wally's Rogues Gallery. The Golden Glider had abandoned her bounty hunter career and had started partnering with a series of thugs who she dressed in a costume, armed with a copy of Captain Cold's signature Cold Gun, and called Chillblaine. Already distraught over the death of her lover, the Top, it seemed that the supposed death of her brother pushed her over the edge. But the last Chillblaine was a little smarter and more vicious. He murdered the Golden Glider, prompting Captain Cold to hunt him down, torture him and kill him by freezing his outer layer of skin and then pushing him off a high rise building. Not long after that, Snart was framed by a new incarnation of Mister Element. He used his Element Gun to simulate Cold's gun, using ice and cold to murder several police officers before Captain Cold and the Flash discovered who was actually responsible. With the death of his sister, and having killed Chillblaine and Mr. Element in vengeance, Cold has again become an unrepentant criminal.

Most recently Captain Cold was declared the leader of the Flash's Rogue's Gallery. His skill and experience have made him a strong leader to the likes of the Weather Wizard, the new The Trickster, the new Mirror Master, and the new Captain Boomerang. Leo seems to have taken the young Captain Boomerang under his wing, after the elder Boomerang was recently killed. Tabloids rumoured that Captain Cold's sister, the Golden Glider, was Boomerang's mother, making him Captain Cold's nephew. This turned out to be false, however, as the new Boomerang's mother has been revealed to be Meloni Thawne, who is also the mother of Bart Allen. Despite his more ruthless nature as of late, Captain Cold's heart isn't completely frozen... evidenced by having sent flowers to honor Sue Dibny, murdered wife of the Elongated Man told in JLA : Secret Identities Storyline.

Traditionally, Captain Cold is driven by three things: money, women, and the desire to beat Barry Allen. Although not the lech that Captain Boomerang was, Len Snart has an eye for the ladies, particularly models. When Barry Allen died, Captain Cold drifted for a while, jumping back and forth over the lines of crime and justice. He was captured by the Manhunter and served time in the Suicide Squad, worked with his sister as a bounty hunter (Golden Snowball Recoveries), and, with his longtime friend and sometimes nemesis Heat Wave, encountered Fire and Ice of the Justice League. He has teamed up with various villains over the years other than the many Rogues... including Catwoman and the Secret Society of Super Villains. His favorite baseball team is the Chicago Cubs. "Plays 'em regular and dumb," according to Mark Shaw, the Manhunter.

Cold takes his position as head of the Rogues very seriously. He employs a no-drugs rule, docks pay for senseless violence a 90% payout cut for the new Trickster's antics with stray dogs and T-bombs, and will kill only on certain occasions,he'll killed the Top for setting the newer rogues against him and his set of rogues.

Captain Cold was not entirely as cold hearted as his name suggests. He deeply cared for his sister, aka the Golden Glider, and looked out for the well being of his fellow Rogues at all times, going so far as to arrange a secret funeral for Captain Boomerang. Even after killing the supervillain Chillblaine in revenge for his sisters murder, he was still sitting at his coffee table, lost in a bottle of brews and unable to even open the door for his usual prostitute, realizing, "My heart's not always made of ice."

["My heart's not always made of ice."]

One Year Later, he and several other Rogues are approached by Inertia with a plan to kill the Flash back then was the Flash. Though Inertia was defeated, Captain Cold, Weather Wizard, and Heat Wave killed Bart with a combined barrage of their elemental weapons. He, Heat Wave, and Weather Wizard, seemed to express guilt, however, after learning the identity of the Flash and how young he was.

Captain Cold on the Flash TV series. Captain Cold has also appeared in live action form, in the CBS television series, The Flash . He was played by actor Michael Champion. Here Captain Cold was an infamous albino hit man who used a nuclear-powered freeze weapon to kill his victims. He was hired by Central City Crime Boss Jimmy Swain to kill local mob bosses and then the Flash. Initially successful in freezing his adversary, he later was confronted by the Flash once more when he recovered from the attack. When Captain Cold was arrested, he managed to escape with a special freezing tool in his glasses to break his cell lock and special freezing grenades to disorient the police as he escaped. In their final showdown, Flash used a specialized heating belt to regulate his body's temperature and a mirror to reflect the freeze blast back at Cold, freezing the villain.

Captain Cold as he appears in Justice League. Captain Cold appeared on an episode of Justice League Unlimited called "Flash and Substance" in February 2006, where he teamed up with Captain Boomerang, the Trickster, and Mirror Master to defeat the Flash in the Flash Museum. His personality in the animated show emphasizes his blue-collar, middle-age approach to being a costumed villain: he moans about his wife nagging him for the mortgage payment, however in the comics, he has never been married, and he drinks milk to ease the pain of an ulcer. He was defeated when Orion froze him with a water hose as he fired his ice gun. Previous to this he had made two appearances in the animated-continuity comic Justice League Adventures.

So there you go folks, He is one bad dude to mess with, He always finishes a job, no matter what the consequences. Makes you wanna dig down on ice cream now doesn't it?Anyways Thanks for reading, be sure to look out for more Origin stories here at The House of El. See ya around!

Sexy Mercenary

Written by Kal-El

Ever heard of the name Silver Sablinovia, or Better yet, Remember the name Silver Sable? She was a female mercenary, a hunter if war criminals, the leader of the Wild Pack, and CEO of Silver Sable International. Though a legitimate mercernary, her methods and motives have sometimes brought her into conflict with other superheroes. Read on as she's our Origin focus of the week.

The operations of Wild Pack and Silver Sable International drive the national economy of the fictional small European state of Symkaria. The name 'Wild Pack' had been used by the mercenary squad led by Sable for some time, until a legal notice forced them to change it to 'Six Pack'.The State of Symkaria is adjacent to Latveria, the nation that is ruled by Doctor Doom. Silver Sable and Victor Von Doom have an annual diplomatic dinner at Castle Doom, situated in Doomstadt. Apparently the friendship between these two states is deep-rooted and dates back to World War II.

The family of Silver Sable is composed of her father, Ernst Sablinova, her uncle Morty, and a young cousin, Anna. Silver's mother was killed by enemies of her father, who ran a Nazi-hunting group. Silver was married to the Foreigner, an international assassin and the head of the 1400 Club, but they “divorced” when she discovered his real work. Their relation today isn't completely clear, sometimes they treat one another as friends, sometimes they tolerate the presence of the other, sometimes they try to kill each other.

[Sleeky Silver]

Uncle Morty functions as Sable's assistant. He organizes the missions, keeps track of the accounting part and many times tries to remind Sable to retain her focus and sense of judgement. Silver supports Anna's boarding school education and seemingly nothing more. Her feelings were betrayed when Hydra agents took over the school and killed Anna's best friend. Sable infiltrated the school, rescuing the survivors with the unwanted aid of Spider-man and the aid of some of her troops, against orders.

Silver has collaborated with various superheroes, including the aforementioned Spider-Man, the Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Venom, Captain America, Deadpool, and many others. Sandman, a reformed Spider-Man villain, was a mercenary for the Silver Sable International for a long time, heading the Intruders, the squad of superpowered mercenaries in the employ of the Silver Sable International. Other heroes and reformed minor villains work for Silver Sable International on occasion.

Like her father, Sable's squad focuses on bringing Nazi war criminals to justice, though they have taken on many other types of missions. Her group is loyal to a fault, often flagrantly disobeying orders if they believe it is for the greater good.

Sable's relationship with Doctor Doom would prove almost-fatal as the annual dinner happened to fall on the time when Doctor Doom's castle had been over-taken by an alien impersonator during the Infinity War crisis. The double did look different, something Sable put down to Doom's desires to change his look. During the dinner, Sable's driver is killed by Doom's robots and a human butler is killed by the Doom double. Sable protests the brutallity and is attacked herself, leading to a chase throughout the castle. Again defying her, her soldiers came to rescue her, despite Sandman himself also having been replaced.

[Ultimate Silver Sable]

In the Ultimate Marvel Universe, Silver Sable is a mercenary from Symkaria. Although she made her original appearance in the Ultimate Spider-Man game, she has appeared as the central villain in a recent story arc. She leads a mercenary organization known as the Wild Pack, and is skilled enough to best Peter in hand to hand combat. She had a troubled childhood, apparently ignored by her father and abused by her alcoholic mother. In reality, her father hunted Nazis, and she forgave him at his deathbed and decided to follow in his footsteps. While she has, so far, only appeared as an antagonist to Spider-Man, she is not actually a villain so much as a bounty hunter, and she holds no particular ill-will towards Spidey. She isn't necessarily a good person either, though, as in the Spider-Man game she threatened Peter Parker's family as a means of getting Peter to work with her to control Venom. Never having been told her real name, Spider-Man jokingly calls her "Crazy Lady" and, in the game, "Crazy Silver Hottie".

Silver Sable also appeared in two episodes of MTV's Spider-Man: The New Animated Series in 2003 and was voiced by Virginia Madsen. In "Spider-Man Dis-Sabled," Spider-Man encounters Sable attempting to assassinate the mayor of New York City and a European Union Guest. As it turns out, the European Union Guest is really an undercover assassin planning to kill the president when he gets the chance. When Silver Sable discovers that Peter Parker (Spider-Man) had caught her on surveillance when she had attempted to kill the European, she attacks Peter's apartment and kidnaps Mary Jane Watson, Harry Osborn and Indy. Peter later discovers that Silver Sable is also posing as the mayor's assistant, but before he can stop her from kidnapping the mayor and The European, he first has to save his friends, which gives her time to get away. Spider-Man eventually catches up to her, though, and the two have a final showdown on top of the mayor's limo. It ends with the limo crashing off the Brooklyn Bridge. Spider-Man saves the limo before it hits the water, but Silver Sable falls off and apparently drowns.

[Stay Sexy Silver]

Sable later made her last appearance in Mind Games: Part One in Spider-Man: The New Animated Series. She joined Kraven the Hunter who wanted to kill Spider-Man when the super hero put the criminal in a Gulag. Sable was then caught by Spider-Man in a confrontation between Spider-Man and Kraven and Sable and she was taken to jail. But in the process, she told Kraven "There are other ways to get revenge on Spider-Man." Kraven used this information and killed Mary Jane Watson. However, this appearance of Sable was fake as it was merely a false scheme by the Gaines Twins when they hypnotized Spider-Man into thinking Kraven killed Mary Jane so Spider-Man can kill Kraven (they have grudge against Kraven when he killed their parents in the past). Be Sure to see this season 1 finale episode.

Well so the story ends here or shall i say goes on from here, Silver Sable could still be lurking around on high sky-scrappers, looking thru her bionicles, eyeing out on you, so becarefull out there true believers, Especially during this coming holidays. Stay Tune for more.
