It's The Cape

Kal-el and myself are big fans of the superhero genre (if you didn't know by now) and we're glad for anything new that might come out that explores the realm of superheros further.

Debuting just a few days ago is the one-hour superhero drama series; The Cape.

The series, set in the fictional metropolis of Palm City and follows Vince Faraday, an innocent police detective who is considering leaving the city's corrupt police force. He witnesses the murder of the city's new police chief by a mysterious individual known as "Chess"; soon after, he decides to work for the private security team of billionaire Peter Fleming, who is poised to take over the city's police department.

An e-mail from the anonymous investigative blogger "Orwell" leads Faraday and his partner Marty Voyt to a cargo train equipped with weapons smuggled in by Fleming's corporation. Unfortunately, Voyt sets up Faraday and delivers him to Chess (Fleming himself), who frames Faraday for the police chief's murder and sends the police after him in a chase that culminates in an explosion.

The entire city (including Faraday's family) now believes that he was Chess and he died in the explosion. Vince actually survives and is saved by a circus ringleader who trains him to use a special black cape to defend himself against his foes. The circus folk convince Faraday that he cannot reveal himself to his wife and son without endangering their lives, because if Chess found out that he was still alive then his family would be targeted. Faraday decides to fight Palm City's corruption and clear his name by taking the guise of his son's favorite comic book hero, "The Cape".

I guess you could think: Batman mix Punisher mix The Shadow.

While the creator of The Cape, Tom Wheeler, does not come from a background comics, he is currently developing the screenplay for Puss in Boots, a spin-off of the Shrek franchise for acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and DreamWorks Animation.

I would suggest that superhero fans out there check out the show yourselves to form your own opinions.

Marvel Announces Anime

Four brand-new anime series featuring some of the Marvel Universe's landmark characters have been announced. Produced by Madhouse for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan (SPEJ), these four original series will feature iconic characters from Iron Man, X-Men, Wolverine and Blade in a new anime re-version. These series will premiere in 2011.

Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President, Head of Television at Marvel Entertainment said, “The size and scope of the animation from top-flight studios Madhouse and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan is nothing short of mind-blowing. We look forward to the start of a beautiful friendship and can’t wait to see the reaction from our worldwide fan-base.”

Each of the four new anime properties will air as standalone series made up of twelve 30-minute episodes. Guided by multiple Eagle award winner Warren Ellis, the four shows will feature a matrix of interlinked storylines and shared guest characters.

Iron Man (teaser trailer above): In an effort to make amends for his weapons manufacturing past, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. And when the reactor-in-construction is repeatedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.

X-Men: The X-Men are reunited following the death of a teammate, and are summoned by Charles Xavier to Japan following the abduction of Hisako Ichiki (Armor). There, they confront the U-Men, a lunatic cult that steals and transplants mutant organs to further strengthen their own army, and the battle for justice is on.

Wolverine: Based on the popular graphic novel by Frank Miller, the series begins in Japan, where Logan is challenged by Shingen Yashida, the notorious leader of a powerful mafia clan. When Shingen's employee Yukio, a female assassin, falls out of Shingen's favor, she must kill him or be killed. Teaming up with Logan, the pair seek out the villain to exact their revenge.

Blade: Seeking revenge on Deacon Frost, the vampire lord who killed his mother while she was still pregnant with Eric. With all the powers of a vampire and none of their weaknesses, Blade's quest leads him throughout Southeast Asia in search of Frost, and, in Vietnam, he discovers a vampire plot that threatens to take down the whole world.

While anime translations have worked out for DC Comics in the past with Gotham Knights, it'll be a toss-up to see how Marvel capitalizes with this shift introduction of four major playing characters in one go.

Disney Announces The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Now i know I wasn't around when the news that Marvel had sold over to Disney their rights, and I will not go into it whether it was a good move or not, all i have to say to about it is that I hoped that Disney should still respect the Old Marvel Characters, stat true to the Comic Story Arcs and try to only improve it, if it works.

Now to the real story and probably a good move here by Disney is that the Disney Channels Worldwide announced its 2010-2011 programming for Disney XD yesterday which includes animated show "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes." Let's hope they can provide the storyline that is more of the previous WB Justice League & JLA Unlimited Animated Series. Enjoyable yet vey Entertaining, Which until today is still (My presonal Favorite) one of the best Cartoons ever made. I like how they managed to let each Character more depth and developed in the series, so should the future Avengers series. But hey if this is for kids, then make it "Less-Kiddier" than "Marvel Super Hero Squad".

Batman - The Brave and The Bold - Episode 6 - Enter the Outsiders

Batman BnB continues this week as the take on the Outsiders, featuring the oldskool cool cat, The Wildcat. The show re-tells you how the relationship between Batman and Wildcat. As time is the number one enemy of the essence for all superhero, Wildcat still thinks that he could take on the much younger and eager Outsiders. The naive little group formed in this series by Black Lightning, Katana & Rex Mason aka Element Man or Metamorpho. Which was a group that was mis-lead by Slug.

Batman The Brave & The Bold

Here's one of our new addition to this blog based on a weekly schedule, We'll be bringing some review of most on going animated series such as Batman: The Brave and The Bold, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Wolverine & The X-Men, and hopefully many more to come this year.

First up, we'll be taking you into the the world's best detective files, namely Batman :The Brave and The Bold. The show has been running since November 2008. This however is currently the only DC Comic Universe animated series for 2009. Legion of Superheroes ended their Series with only 2 season, hopefully with this new take on Batman and Other DC Superheroes, we hope this will have a positive feedback on fans around the globe. It has only been a few weeks since we have seen new episodes of Batman: the Brave and the Bold, due to the holidays of course, so check out the information stated below to get up to speed with us:

BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Premiered on Friday, November 14, 7:30 p.m.

Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Animation present the latest interpretation of the classic Batman franchise, premiering Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The Caped Crusader is teamed up with heroes from across the DC Universe, delivering nonstop action and adventure with a touch of comic relief. Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Aquaman and countless others will get a chance to uphold justice alongside Batman. Though still based in Gotham City, Batman will frequently find himself outside city limits, facing situations that are both unfamiliar and exhilarating. With formidable foes around every corner, Batman will still rely on his stealth, resourcefulness and limitless supply of cool gadgets to bring justice home.

Batman: The Brave & The Bold - SOE05 -Day of the Dark Knight

This week, the show started with Batman being on Oa, First appearances made was our bad mouthing Green Guardian, Guy Gardner & Also Kilowog, But they were not the main featuring characters in this week's show, this week Batman will work along side with The Green Arrow himself & also check this, Merlin the Wizard. This week they travel to a distant back in time to fight for justice to help the great wizard to release the magical sword, Excalibur. Batman and The Green Arrow will have a face off with Etrigan The Demon...Oooo how's that for a good weekend show?
