Teen Titans Too

Written by GL

My gosh! In all honesty, how many comic-to-films have been announced since this little blog got started. I'll tell you how many: a lot. And there's even more to come.

Word from The Hollywood Reporter has just come out that the DC Comics' superteam Teen Titans is getting the big-screen treatment courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures.

The live-action adaptation is being produced by Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster through their Weed Road production company, while Mark Verheiden has been brought on board to write the script.

The Teen Titans, which first appeared in 1964, are comprised of Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Speedy, the respective sidekicks of A-list heroes Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and Green Arrow.

The comic series reached X-Men-style success in the 1980s, when the team was relaunched in a new comic with the characters no longer kids but college-age adults and the stories explored more mature themes. The series also saw the addition of Cyborg, Starfire and Raven, original characters who weren't sidekicks, while the character of Robin matured into one called Nightwing.

Most recently, the comic was adapted to the television screen with a Cartoon Network series that ran from 2003-06 that used many of the 80s comic-heroes and story lines.

It is not known which heroes will be used, but Nightwing is said to be in the mix.

Goldsman said the tone will be consistent with such recent Warners' comic book fare as Batman Begins, Superman Returns and the upcoming Watchmen.

Verheiden was a writer-producer on Smallville and is a writer-producer on Battlestar Galactica.

You heard it. Prepare for the Teen Titans.

Superman Vs Doomsday

Written by GL

All my life, I have always wanted to attend at least one awesome comic convention. The only problem with these events is that they're always held in far-away places, like the States, which makes it a little harder for little village people like me. One of the millions of reasons to attend a comic con would be to just gaze at all the amazing action figures on display - I wonder how I would be able to stop myself from splurging all my money away. Another reason would be to catch awesome new releases - like Superman vs. Doomsday.

Comic Con International will be premiering Superman vs. Doomsday in a no-holds-barred fight to the finish! And Comic-Con attendees get to see it first, almost two whole months before it debuts on DVD!

I repeat: it is the world premiere of the eagerly awaited first-ever DC Universe animated movie from DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation. Produced by Bruce Timm (Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Animated Series) and written by Duane Capizzi (The Batman), Superman vs. Doomsday is inspired by the best-selling graphic novel of all time, DC's The Death of Superman. The complete 70+ minute movie will be shown along with a panel featuring the film's creators. Superman vs. Doomsday features the voices of Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Serenity) as Superman, Anne Heche (Men In Trees) as Lois Lane, and James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Lex Luthor, and is rated PG-13.

Producer and animation legend Bruce Timm talked about this new film:

CCI: How did the PG-13 rating and the extended time impact the way you told the Superman Doomsday story?

BT: We had done direct-to-video features before, so that wasn't a major issue in terms of the length. The PG-13 thing was interesting. Honestly, on Justice League and pretty much all of our shows, we really hadn't been trying to limit the kinds of stories we've been telling just for a kid audience. We always had to keep in mind that our core demographic was 6-11 year-olds. At the same time, however, in our hearts we were actually making the shows for ourselves.

So here, knowing that we're actually going for a much more adult tone across the board, and not being worried about being restricted to kid friendly subject matter, it was actually quite liberating. And in a weird kind of way, we actually found ourselves almost having to force ourselves to "age-up" some of the story elements, because our first couple of pitches on the storyline, everybody kept saying, 'Well this is fine, but it still doesn't seem any more extreme than what you could get in an episode of Justice League.'

CCI: In Superman Doomsday, you're telling an epic story that was serialized over many comics. Which elements can fans expect to see?

BT: It follows the basic structure of the entire story arc (The Death of Superman, World Without A Superman and The Return of Superman). The first third of the movie pretty much covers up to the actual death of Superman storyline pretty closely, with certain modifications just because of time limits or whatever.

From that point on, it stays true to the structure of the storyline but a lot of the details had to be changed. Again, because of the short amount of time we had to tell the entire story. It's tough to talk about without spoiling it, but you're definitely going to see some of the most giant scale brutal battle scenes that we've ever done in animation, both at the beginning and end of the movie.

The core emotional heart of the story is basically seen through Lois' eyes, but in the second and third acts, the main part of the story is how did the world react to the loss of Superman.

CCI: Are there other DC heroes in it?

BT: No. We were pretty much treating this as if it was a stand-alone Superman movie, not connected to any other continuity. Superman is the only hero in this movie. It just makes the story stronger and more focused.

What's In The Dark Knight's Garage?

Written by GL

As the viral marketing and rockin' rumors for the closely watched and awaited Dark Knight movie comes slowly creeping out, Kal-el and I are right there to keep our ears to the ground. These are the latest possible scoops so far (and keep in mind; rumors are always rumors):

  • The Bat-cycle WILL be in the film, and will look similar to the Tumbler (from Batman Begins) style-wise. They have build ten of these for various purposes.
  • They are planning on having the Bat-cycle emerge from the Tumbler. The use of CGI may be incorporated to make it happen.
  • Two Lamborginis were provided for the film and will be completely destroyed during filming.
  • Whether official or not, the Joker's get-away vehicle is always referred to as The Clown Car, and there are several of these built. Who knows - it may have a few tricks up its sleeve.
  • Nothing yet about a new Batmobile.

Be The First To See Bumblebee

If you haven't already heard Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg will be bringing Transformers onto the big screen. The world premiere for this show will be at the Taormina Film Fest. The premiere would represent the first time a major U.S. film of that status premiered at the 53-year-old Taormina event.

Michael Bay, several cast members and executives from Paramount Pictures will arrive by helicopter in an elaborate ceremony before the June 21 screening. The movie itself opens around the world only on July 4.

That, my friends, is how you could be the first to catch this much-awaited show before the rest of the world. By the way, Taormina is located on the Italian island of Sicily. I think the Air Asia website might be your next stop from here.

The Fantastic Cartoon

Written by GL

If Fantastic Four: The Rise Of The Silver Surfer turns out to be a hit to your taste buds, wait till you get a load of this: Fantastic Four is coming back to Cartoon Network.

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes, the animated television series on Cartoon Network is the fourth overall series based on Marvel Comics' hit series. The series combines two-dimensional art and three-dimensional computer animation produced by the France-based animation company Moonscoop. The show premiered on September 2, 2006 as part of Toonami, but was pulled from the schedule in November 2006. According to Taffy Entertainment (who distributes the series), the show will return to Cartoon Network in June 2007 and all 26 episodes will be aired. Presumably, this was planned to take advantage of the release of the upcoming super foursome movie.

A DVD release of the first few episodes was released on March 27, 2007 so get it if you dare call yourself a fan.

I have done some random checking on the Astro schedules here in Brunei and no news has come out about the airing of the cartoon just yet. But, I do recommend that all you fans check back on the Astro website this coming month.

What Ever Happened To Plastic Man?

Written by GL

Many of us may have seen hints of Plastic Man, especially when considering the Justice League. Plastic Man can be assumed to be a little known character. I mean, hardly anyone is a fan, and even less people claim to recognized him as a member of the League. He doesn't have that macho exterior, he is never drawn as a stern fella, and his costume look like a swim suit from the 50s. So, what ever happened to him?

Plastic Man had been a crook named Patrick 'Eel' O'Brian. He was shot by a security guard and struck by a falling drum of unidentified acid, some of which entered Eel's gunshot wound. He was saved by a mysterious order of monks who cured his desire for crime. The acid bath, however, gave him the ability to change his shape into anything - well, plastic. He wore dark glasses and a red-and-yellow costume as flexible as his body. Yet whatever shape he took, the colors of his costume remained the same.

Plastic Man soon acquired a sidekick named Woozy Winks, a man originally magically enchanted so that nature itself would protect him from harm. But Woozy eventually faded from modern comic plots and became simply a slapstick, comedic, loyal friend of Plastic Man.

There were at least 3 different Plastic Men portrayed in various appearances during his origins. Originally, the Plastic Man series in the 1960s tied in the son of the original - who was part of a group called the Inferior Five, identified as living on Earth-Twelve. A subsequent version appeared with Batman in Brave and the Bold and Justice League of America; yet he was identified as a character from Earth-One. Later on, Quality Comics specified another Plastic Man as being a member of various groups including the All-Star Squadron and Freedom Fighters, originally of Earth-Two (and they later moved to Earth-X). This version died during an extended period of World War II while on Earth-X.

If you haven't got a headache yet, we can move on. Because something happened that changed all that. It was called Infinite Crisis - which marked the destruction of all the different Earths, leaving only on true one existing. That was a better idea than leaving it all at the above paragraph.

This is the revamped origin:

In the 1988-1989 Plastic Man miniseries, the monks were eliminated from Plastic Man's appearance. Instead, Eel O'Brian, abandoned by his criminal gang after being shot and exposed to the chemical, wandered the streets as his new powers developed, frightening others and bringing the police and National Guard down on him as a dangerous monster. Eel was at first oblivious of the changes to his body, but after realizing what he was able to do went about using his new abilities to escape his detection, but soon became so depressed over his new condition that he attempted suicide by jumping off a bridge.

Fortunately, he was interrupted by Woozy Winks, a former mental patient kicked out of an institution due to lack of funding (or as Woozy put it, "something called Reaganomics"), who desired nothing more than to return to the warm safety of a straitjacket and padded room. Eel and Woozy decided to work together and capitalize on Eel's new powers to make their fortunes (Eel wanting to get rich quick, Woozy just wanting his "old room" back), but couldn't decide whether there was more money in crime or crime-fighting, and so flipped a coin to choose. Eel ended up with the name Plastic Man after a reporter misinterpreted his first choice, Elastic Man, and with Woozy, the two set up a detective agency in New York City.

The retcon that Plastic Man was initially a superhero for money has affected his character development post-Crisis, notably in a JLA storyline where he, along with other Justice League members, was physically separated into two people: his 'civilian' identity and his superhero persona. While Plastic Man devolved from a person with a sense of humor into a constantly wisecracking idiot, the 'normal' Eel O'Brian struggled with the criminal tendencies he had suppressed as he had become comfortable with his role as a superhero, and wondered if he had actually changed for the better or if it had all been part of the superhero act. Ultimately, Eel became the driving force behind the other transformed Leaguers banding together to re-join with their superheroic selves.

After the Our Worlds at War crossover, the Justice Leaguers are sent back in time to ancient Atlantis before its initial sinking into the ocean. Though the Leaguers were killed in battle, they were brought back to life in modern times thanks to Manitou Raven's magical powers and Kyle Rayner's Oan power ring, which had preserved the Leaguers' souls. Absent from this battle was Plastic Man, who had been torn apart and his pieces spread throughout the seas. After reassembling, Eel declared that he had been conscious throughout the thousands of years of formlessness, and immediately removed himself from the team.

Sometime afterward, Eel had himself hypnotized so that he could not remember that he and his son have superpowers. His time as a dedicated father was cut short when Martian Manhunter evolves into the fiery being known as Fernus. Batman and Eel's son convince Eel that he is the only person who can counter the telepath Fernus and save the world, with the revelation that Plastic Man's brain is as inorganic as his form and cannot be controlled telepathically.

In the One Year Later DC Comics crossover storyline that followed the Infinite Crisis crossover, a young man with similar appearance and powers as Plastic Man appears briefly in the superteam series Teen Titans Vol. 3, #34. The character wears a white costume with red goggles, similar to that of Offspring, Plastic Man's son (from the earlier DC miniseries titled The Kingdom). While the Teen Titans story itself does not identify the character, page two of a published script specifies it is Plastic Man’s son, Offspring.

And that, my friends, is as far as the Plastic Man storyline goes. The character's life is as twisty as his arms, and it seems to continue on. Come to think of it really, I haven't seen a comic in a long time. I guess what's really important is that we gained a little bit of knowledge about the superheroes, even though we are still left with the question of what ever happened to Plastic Man?

The Stark Tower

Written by Kal-El

We all know that Tony Stark is Iron Man, but sometimes we do forget that this multi billionaire also owns a lot of interesting assets, one of which involves The Avengers Headquarters, today on our info piece, we will jump into the Stark Tower.

It is a high rised building, only to be named after its owner Tony Stark; it was constructed believe it or not, not to long ago, 2005, and has serves as the headquarters of the Marvel's elusive team, The New Avengers.

Built over a period of four years, it is an example of modern architecture. The top three floors were to be Stark's new home, but when the new Avengers were founded, he gave it to the team as a gift, to be their home when they needed it, and to be a meeting place and base of operations. Just like the Avengers Mansion Stark Tower is suited with state-of-the-art technology and an extravagant interior, including hanging portraits in memory of the former Avengers cover art.

When the team came together in this place, his well-known butler, Edwin Jarvis was welcomed back to his longtime position as caretaker for the team. In the wake of the passing of the Superhuman Registration Act, Stark Tower acted as the base of operations for the government task force led by Iron Man and charged with enforcing the Act.

The place where it stands now was the former site of The Sentry's Watchtower before he erased the entire world's memory of him. When the Sentry recovered from his "mental virus", the Watchtower installed itself atop Stark Tower, convincing Tony Stark that it was fate that really brought them together.

Heroes now dine and wine in a great big sanctuary with heavy artillery under their pillow.

Peek-A-Boo!

Today at USA Today has revealed a new image of what we all like to think as the Joker Minions or could be the Joker himself, Taken from the Movie Batman Sequel: The Darknight, Here is more updates on the Movie progress. PIcture is taken from USA Today.

All directors promise that their sequels will be bigger and flashier than the predecessors'. But Christopher Nolan doesn't mess around.

The director's sequel to Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, will become the first feature film to be partly shot in the IMAX format, an expensive and cumbersome process that typically is the province of documentaries and short films. Nolan will shoot four action sequences including the introduction of the Joker, played by Heath Ledger on IMAX.

The move is one of Hollywood's most pronounced steps yet in its embrace of IMAX theaters, which are increasingly showing commercial fare on their giant screens.

"There's simply nothing like seeing a movie that way," Nolan says. "It's more immersive for the audience. I wish I could shoot the entire thing this way."

Next X Men Generation Movie

Written by Kal-El

Little do we know at this moment, but Movie producers and writers are currently busy writting up storylines for the next generations of Xmen movies to come, here's a little update on Xmen movies told by Tom Roth from Fox Television.

While he doesn't specifically say that there will be an X-Men 4, Fox's Tom Rothman has responded to the many e-mails and letters from fans about further "X-Men" movies. The note at TheXVerse.com reads:

The next film in the X-Men series will be "Wolverine," starring Hugh Jackman. You can expect some announcements about this movie in the very near future. And we fully intend to continue to make more "X-Men" films with both old and new muties. So fans can rest assured that they will have many opportunities in the coming years to see their favorite characters on the big screen.

The other spinoff in the works is Magneto. In related news, Rebecca Romijn was asked by MTV if she'd heard anything about either spinoff. She hasn't.

Patience is all we need X Men fans, so stay tuned.

The Incredible Hulk Interview's Louis Leterrier

Q: When we last talked, you mentioned your dream of directing a major science fiction movie. Do you consider your dream achieved now that you’re directing Hulk 2?

A: Overachieved. I truly realize the great opportunity I have been given. In the actual state of pre-production, I can make the movie I really want.

Q: How is it going between you, Marvel and Avi Arad?

A: Marvelously. And what’s extraordinary about Marvel, and more since they became independent, is that they are motivated people who want to make a good movie and are always looking for ideas to make it better. That’s the reason Ang Lee and Eric Bana were in the first movie. They are not the kind of people that obviously come to mind for making a production like this but are genuine artists that could elevate Hulk to something more than just a simple action film and, in my opinion, achieved it. Marvel gave them creative freedom, like they did with Sam Raimi on Spider-Man when hiring Tobey Maguire. Don't get me wrong, I would never compare myself to theses guys, that would be out of place, but now I better understand the pleasure they had making these movies the way they wanted.

Q: Have you already selected your actors?

A: I have some ideas. I can tell you that they are not people you expect to see in these kinds of movies. Marvel and I agree on this and they consider that the movie doesn’t need an action hero like Bruce Willis or Tom Cruise.

Q: What can you tell us about the story?

A: In fact, it’s the story that convinced me. The first time they contacted me, I was very hesitant. They came back because they loved Unleashed. We met and they told me about the story. I must admit, it took me 30 minutes to say yes. As a moviegoers and a fan of the character, they were handing me something I always dreamed to see on the big screen. It won’t be a sequel to Ang Lee’s film but it won’t be a remake or a re-imagining either. It will be a new adventure with different characters, new intrigue, new monsters. We will quickly get to the heart of the story because I think people know the character and I don’t want to shoot 45 minutes to get to the first Hulk-out or about the reasons that make him a monster. The first movie had a lot of Bruce Banner’s story and a little of Hulk’s. This one will be 50/50.

Q: Rumor has it that you convinced everybody when you showed storyboards of two completely wild scenes that didn’t have anything to do with the original script. Is it true?

A: It’s Stéphane Levallois who works with me on the artistic direction of the film. Stéphane is an exceptional artist, rare and complete, and this movie needs his eye. As you must expect, I won’t tell you what those scenes are about but if I manage to put them on screen the way I imagined them, they’re going to be quite good. Avi Arad’s reaction was what I hoped for. He and his partners had never seen something like that in a movie and naturally wanted to have it in their own (laughs). And then we come back to the creative freedom we have been given; they changed the script to put those scenes in.

Q: Lastly, what can we expect of the character’s design? Will you use the same as the previous movie?

A: No, he will be truly different. It’s in Stéphane Levallois’ hands. If you only take the face, it needs to be redesigned for the SFX , on one hand, but also because the first Hulk had a lot of Eric Bana. And if we’re going to have a different actor for Banner, the Hulk must also be different. Also, I don’t want to have a 45 feet tall Hulk that gets bigger when he gets madder. I don’t want to make Godzilla. This Hulk will be 9 feet tall and his height won’t change. I see this character as a tortured soul, prisoner of his superpowers and always on the run by fear of hurting others. If I need to state any references, I’d say mostly Jeckyl and Hyde, Frankenstein and even Edward Scissorhands.

Keep up to date for more Hulk Movie updates.

Old School Still Cool

Written by GL

Many would say that there has never ever been a good Wonder Woman cast on television. But I would say that that's all myth. There has. And she was Lynda Carter; and luckily for the fans who know of her, Big Bad Toy Store has immortalized her.

The 13” Wonder Woman Lynda Carter Statue is a cold-cast porcelain idol with a star-insignia pedestal base (check it out pictured above). The likeness is totally accurate, recreating the beauty of an Amazon who actually made Wonder Woman cool for television. Now, in statue tribute, she stands in place, her mystic golden lasso in hand ready to save your unworthy behind.

Weighing in at 3.99 pounds, the detail and painting is amazing (especially the gold-paint coating of Lynda's tiara). Wonder Woman's costume is accurate to the good old days television show and make this piece a worthwhile addition any origins-themed collector.

The Wonder Woman Lynda Carter 13" statue is priced at US$169.99 or B$259.58. The powers of Hera aren't cheap.

The Parkers

Written by GL

It seems that we have an even split here. Thanks to all who tried their luck with this one; it is a very little know fact who Peter Parker's parents really are. Peter Parker is, in fact, the one and only son of Richard and Mary Parker. Captain Richard Parker and Mary Fitzpatrick had been agents in the organization that many of us know as S.H.I.E.L.D.

They were secret agents who went on a number of missions for the organization (in one comic-plot they were also the agents that freed a little known fella by the name of Logan a.k.a. Wolverine) - and were assassinated on the job.

Richard Parker had a brother named Ben, and Ben married May Reilly Parker - the raising guardians of your friendly neighborhood buddy.

Give Me Sin

Written by GL

A company called Red Mile Entertainment, Inc. today announced it has entered into a multi-year, worldwide license agreement to develop and to publish video games based on the Sin City series of graphic novels by writer/artist and film director Frank Miller (the man behind several Dark Knight spin offs).

The winner of multiple awards in its comic-book and graphic-novel forms, Sin City got even greater public awareness with the 2005 release of the successful Frank Miller's Sin City live-action feature film (you may remember the above seen of Jess Alba, not that it's that exciting really).

'Sin City enjoys a broad and devoted following. Its crime-noir settings, richly detailed characters, hyper-real action sequences, and engaging stories provide an outstanding groundwork for video games,' said Chester Aldridge, CEO of Red Mile Entertainment. 'Red Mile is enthusiastic about working with Frank Miller to create a franchise that is worthy of this great property.'

'Taking Sin City into the world of video games is very exciting - games offer a whole new way to bring audiences into Sin City', said Frank Miller. 'The Red Mile team has impressed me with its dedication to creating Sin City video games that will remain true to Sin City as I've always seen it.'

We'll keep you all posted on the developments on this project as time goes on. And no, I don't think you'll be able to play as Jessica Alba in a cowboy stripper costume.

And if you haven't heard of it or seen any episodes then I suggest you get to searching for where you could get your hands on the series soon. Be Prepared To Be Silver

Written by GL

These days, super-movies like Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer are almost guaranteed to be released with a video game to enhance and expand the experience of seeing your favorite characters brought to life.

Visual Concepts are the developers of the Rise of the Silver Surfer video game (actual game image picture above). The team also got to visit the movie sets on numerous occasions and were given full access to all pre-production artwork, 3D models and special effects information. Published by 2K Games and available on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS, Rise of the Silver Surfer hits stores June 15, the same day as the film.

Relying on each of the four members' unique abilities, players can smash, crash and bash their way through fully destructible environments. That kind of freedom is going to be nice, because this game is full of nasty enemies. Guaranteed Dr. Doom is going to make life extremely difficult (as usual) for players. And the Silver Surfer too is sure to provide players with some incredible visuals as well as unique gameplay opportunities. "We wanted to make a rich, varied experience for the fans and chose villains who are both some of the most infamous bad guys the Fantastic Four have faced, but they also had to fit within our plot line," said the head developer from Visual Concepts.

Rise of the Silver Surfer The Video Game offers players the chance to go toe-to-toe with enemies who aren't in the feature film, like...

The Skrulls, a race taken straight from the pages of the comics, get paid a visit on their home planet by the FF, a decision that brought some unique opportunities. The Super Skrull actually exhibits all of the Fantastic Four's powers; he can stretch attack, he flies, he can launch huge energy and firebomb attacks, turn invisible and can cause a shock-wave by slamming his fist into the ground. However, he's also an incredibly cool boss. Himalayan rock monsters, whether in their more vicious humanoid form (complete with rock-sword arms and shurikens) or their simpler pile-of-granite look, can also be found.

Ivan Kragoff, former cosmonaut and current psychopath going by the name Red Ghost brings an unwelcome element to the battlefield in the form of his army of intelligent Super Apes. Players are guessed to have the most fun fighting are Red Ghost's Super Apes.

Digging even deeper into the Galactus storyline than the movie, developers give comic fans a chance to fight another cosmic-powered herald of Galactus, Terrax the Tamer. With a giant axe and a penchant for manipulating rocks, Terrax is a formidable foe.

So after you see the movie and your thirst for intergalactic justice hasn't been quenched, pop in your copy of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - The Video Game and see if you have the mustard to go against all this baddies mentioned above.

Obviously, the soon-coming Transformers movie is hitting the globe like an alien robot invasion. The hype for movies nowadays is simply amazing, and the speed at which hype travels and is translated around the world is just too fast to comprehend.

Taiwan is obviously ready for the release with their own poster revamp featuring Optimus 'Tha Mack' Prime, 'Big Bad' Megatron and Bumble 'Everyone's Favourite' Bee. Also pictured in the newly released poster are stars Josh Duhamel, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox.

And if you already don't know (and you can't read Taiwanese), Transformers is coming on July 4.

He-Man makes a comback to the Big Screen

Written by Kal-El

Do you guys remember He-Man : Masters of the Universe?

Of Course you would, This 80's Hero from Mattel had made several incarnations of it, whether its Movie wise or cartoons. I Know he is not in the league of any comic superheroes, but i guess for the sake of Nostalgia, i'm gonna add in stuff regarding He-Man, and since Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver are working with Mattel to turn "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" into a live-action film, reports Variety. Justin Marks is set to write the script. Silver will produce the movie.

Can you imagine, with what effects Hollywood will be able to do with the graphics or demons that might spawned up here by the Skeletor. It would be a great deal compare it to the old previous movies, The series became a cult favorite, but the brand was hardly helped by its first big screen incarnation, the campy 1987 flop Masters of the Universe that starred Dolph Lundgren as the title character and Frank Langella as his nemesis Skeletor.

He-Man was born as a Mattel action figure, and the toymaker created an animated series in hopes of selling dolls. The franchise has been reimagined by the producer and the writers and pitched to Mattel as a classic good vs. evil battle, using the kind of visual effects strategy employed in 300. A warrior is touted as the last hope of a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.

Many of the characters will be informed by the mythology created in the four different cartoon series done since the 1980s.

Stay tune for many other updates here at The House of El.

Cold Heat

Emma Frost is, by far, the hottest blonde in the Marvel Universe. And those excellent statue maker at Sideshow Collectibles have proved it - you can make something sexy out of polystone.

Cast in high-quality polystone direct from the concepts and designs of fan-favorite artist Adam Hughes, comes the White Queen Comiquette. It's cast and then hand-finished and hand-painted to superb standards. You can see it above yourself - admire the detail and the curves. She stands at a stunning 16-inches tall, and will be sure to make your girlfriend jealous and your Mom cry out in despair.

Keeping in mind that this statues is only due to arrive in June 2007, Emma can be yours (and only yours, yours forever, just for you, you naughty boy) for US$144.99 (B$221.75). Check her out in greater details at

iPods, Roll Out !

Written by GL

If the digi-cam pictured above can change like a midget Autobot, movie gossipers say that you might just watch an iPod doing the same thing, Transformers star Josh Duhamel revealed.

'The Transformer that will steal all the scenes I would say is this little iPod thing,' he said. 'It’s pretty cool.' Although he didn’t mention it by name, it’s possible he was talking about the Soundwave, one of the coolest Generation 1 Decepticons who, in the original cartoon, changes from a large robot into a tape deck. While the design might have seemed cutting edge in 1985, a tape deck wouldn’t fit into the hyper-modern environment of the Michael Bay movie.

But just because he’s small, that doesn’t mean this Transformer will be a tiny side-line character 'It’s like this crazy little 12-inch iPod that turns into this little killing machine,' he said. Now that's a scary thought.

The hype is totally building for this movie and I have a feeling we won't be disappointed.
