The Blue Stone

This site will consist of nearly everything you ever wanted to read about, upon some request, we will try to publish it once the information is available. Why am I doing this? Like you, I am a fan of the superhero culture since I was a kid, now being an adult, I still enjoy the fact that comics never seemed to grow old on me, never have and never will.

If only in Brunei we have all this shops that was still open, I remember, the original Blue Stone that was at the Arthirah plaza in Batu Satu before they moved to Gadong, Me and my brother used to go there after tuition every Friday and pick up some comics and trading cards. But reality has spoken the truth; the comic world in Brunei was coming to an end. Blue Stone then later on, goes down in bankruptcy; this is all without the main support for its love for comics.

But fortunately, there is only one shop that is able to maintain its figure but only at a minimal disposal, Best Eastern outlets can still provide us with a few up to date comics, figurines that we can only order. Speaking of Figuring, I am a figuring collector, but only upon its availability in Brunei. Sadly, Brunei has lost this pop culture and need for the comic world, so the market went down.

Ever wondered how much the value of the action figures would be if we kept all the old 80’s to 90’s toys in mint condition. Think about how easy it was back then. Now the most general Action figures or statues you could find is non- other than McFarlane’s Spawns.
Due to its popularity, they also raised the price to high. This is non-sense for all collectors.

Why am I doing this again? So I can share with you information regarding every experience I get or information I got from anywhere I go. So this is why I am posting to you Information about Superheroes, about what Superhero Movie is in the making, Superhero Origins, Action Figures, Wallpapers, Toy reviews etc. This is my redemption for the new generations to come.

Why should the future of Brunei generation be lost in the real world, where they don’t want to be educated, but rather loiter around at the mall in late nights being jobless!(No pun intended) The kids of the future should be at home reading up comics after finishing their homework and reading them before they go to sleep. Our younger generations need more hobbies. But who am I to talk right? I’ve been there before myself, and it didn’t turn out to well. This is after the comic world went dead.

Imagine what Brunei could be if we had Comic Con come down here to do a Comic conventions. I’m sure that it’ll pick up people not only those with the Interest, but also those without any. More comic shops will reopen due to the demands of fans for the superhero characters, Action figures to be sold. With Hollywood now trying to make more superhero movies. That would be a dream I lost once before…would be restored once again. This is my Mission Statement, This is The House Of El..

Help me help each other provide feed of information, so if any other Brunei bloggers or Asian region want to share the link of superheroes, all are welcome to the House of El.

Thank You,

Kal-El

hey bruv, i feel for you. ive been collecting since my form 5 days but it wasnt until i studied overseas that i managed to get hold of my prized jewels. to be fair there werent too many good figures out in the late 90s/ early 2000s. the few notable ones were the wildcats line and the warlands ones. Since macfarlane most other companies got tehir acts together (altho toy biz figures are still shit) my all time fav would have to be the starwars unleashed line. ;) take it easy

As a boy, when Bluestone was operating at Gadong, I used to go to the shop almost every week. It was a the most important place for me, a place where I can disappear into a different world full of things which I liked. The shop was peaceful, nicely arranged and full of comics. My dad use to give me some money to buy the comics. I used to book the comics, and the shop-girls would keep them for me until I have enough money. Sometime, my dad would surprise me by paying for the booked comics. I knew he used to collect comics when he was young, and he didn't mind me reading them.
I knew the owner of Bluestone quite well. He gave away packs of old comics to his loyal customers regularly, including me. He even helped me get my missing comics issues from Singapore, when he was there on business, at no additional cost. He did mentioned that the reason why he closed down Bluestone was because the books and comics business in Brunei was bad and he was not able to continue. He now owns a popular chain of restaurants. I am sure if there is a good demand for speciality shop for comics, figurines, trading-cards and magazines, there will be businessman like him who would open a similar shop.
I am now an officer in a Govt Department, married with two children. I will always remember Bluestone and the wonderful memories of the comics world, and I will not stop my children from venturing into reading comics, if they have the opportunity.
It's a pity that there is no good comics and book shop in Brunei at the moment.
