Cyborg is Here!

[Mattel's DC Superheroes : Cyborg 12"Inch]
Written by Kal-El

He's back from SDCC, He's tired, He's Exhausted but he had Fun at the San Diego Comic Con! He's so lucky, me and GL would cut off our toe's to go to SDCC, but nevermind. Give it up for Michael Crawford and listen to what he has to say...Take it away Michael.

Whew! I'm back from SDCC, and I'm exhausted...but it was great fun, and itwas wonderful seeing everyone! Sorry I haven't gotten more of my coverageup, but I had the chance to see both the Simpsons movie (fantastic!) andBalls of Fury (damn funny!), and my evenings ended up running late.

Tonight I'm looking at the 12" Cyborg Superman from Mattel. We haven'tgotten the small version yet, but this one is terrific, easily the best of12" releases so far in this 'collectors' line. He's still too expensive, but at least the cool sculpt makes up for some of that.

You can find all the reviews at the usual: http://www.mwctoys.com And don't forget about my SDCC giveaway of the PF Lurtz, which will continue through August 10th.

Thanks for reading!

Poll Result: Who Is Not A Member Of The Marvel Family?

Written by GL

Thanks to all the voters for this week's poll. All the guesses made were excellent guesses, and after all, it's all about educating our fellow Bruneians.

The real word on the street is that Hoppy The Bunny and Uncle Dudley were members of the Marvel Family. Hoppy The Bunny is currently featured in DC Direct's Marvel Family figure line, and Uncle Dudley was inducted as a superhero by the great Shazam himself for much of the late 1970s. Now, however, Uncle Dudley's an inactive member.

Uncle Tawny, if you remember, is the talking tiger buddy of the Marvel Family, but he himself was never a superhero and has never worn the uniform of Shazam! Keep on learning folks, and thanks for all your support. We appreciate it.

The Doomsday Theory

[Doomsday: a bad, bad man]
Written by GL

Last week was the world premiere of Superman Doomsday, coming only this September. The title is the starting point of a planned line of animated projects, each title is a theatrical story arc directly from classic DC story-lines. This means it'll be pretty awesome.

Superman Doomsday, for people who don't know, will be an adaptation of the comic plot-lines of 'Death of Superman' to 'A World Without Superman' up until the return of our favorite Man of Steel. This means it'll be a great story line and it'll be pretty awesome.

[Adam Baldwin: the voice of Superman]

Voicing the Man of Steel in Superman Doomsday is Adam Baldwin. James Marsters will be voicing Luthor.

Superman Doomsday will be featuring some of Superman's best foes: We start with Lex Luthor. This version of Luthor is going to be new and heartlessly mean and scary Then you have Doomsday, the killing machine. The fight between Superman and Doomsday is, of course, the highest point of the whole show. The show will also focus on the more complex relationship between Lois Lane (voiced by Anne Heche) and Superman.

[The New Frontier: promo poster]

The next project in the new DC Universe series is Justice League: The New Frontier; to be released in 2008. It's an adaptation of the 2003 comic series about the origins of DC's greatest heroes set in the late 1950s. This should be pretty awesome.

[David Boreanaz: the voice of Green Lantern]

The casting stands at Kyle MacLachlan as Superman, Lucy Lawless as Wonder Woman, Jeremy Sisto as Batman, Neil Patrick Harris as The Flash, and David Boreanaz as Hal Jordan / Green Lantern.

The third film in the series has been confirmed as Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. Details on this are soon to come. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a totally awesome (how many times have I said that already?) lineup of animated shows to purchase and keep. I can't wait.

Heroes News

[Masi Oka: also known as Hiro]
Written by GL

It was an awesome first year for the NBC television show, Heroes. The show even had everyone in Brunei downloading it, waiting for the next episode, then raving about it.

It has been announced at this year's Comic-Con International that Alex Ross (my personal, all-time favorite comic artist of all time) and Jim Lee will be doing covers for the Heroes online comics. The comic will come out his fall from DC.

Heroes: Origins was also discussed. The plan is each episode of this new series will cover a single character. It was also revealed that Kevin Smith (also know as Silent Bob or the director for such movies as Mall-rats and Dogma) will be directing the first episode, shockingly enough. Heroes: Origins starts in April.

[Kevin Smith: the upcoming director for Heroes: Origins]

It was also revealed that there is no set ending for the series and it's designed to be ongoing. Heroes will return September 24 with an 11 episode line-up.

The Director Of Shazam! Speaks

[Peter Segal: Shazam! time]
Written by GL

At Comic-Con International, Warner Bros. kicked off their presentation with Peter Segal, the new man behind New Line's movie Shazam! Produced by Michael Uslan (of the Batman movie) and written by John August (writer of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), it's going to be one of the lighter comic superheroes, but it still might seem like a strange choice to some people considering Segal's past work.

Segal was the director for Nutty Professor: Meet The Klumps and Naked Gun 33 1/3, as well as three Adam Sandler movies)

Peter Segal asked Stan Lee, 'Why did you choose me?' and he said, 'Because our heroes have flaws and in the flaws is a sense of humor.' Because it's a 14-year-old prepubescent boy who becomes a superhero, so he's got those same insecurities, those same fantasies. That's where I think the heart of that movie is and I think that's what makes it different from the other comic books.'

[Black Adam: Captain Marvel's greatest foe]

It turns out that Segal is a big fan of comic books and was glad to finally get a chance to tackle his first superhero project. 'We're really going back and looking at the source material,' he replied when asked which version of Captain Marvel has inspired August's script. 'There are multiple incarnations of Captain Marvel. It's been reinvented over the last few years and Black Adam has had a resurgence in popularity, so we're looking at the whole 70 year life of it and drawing from it.' Segal also remarked that we can expect the Marvel Family to show up as well.

'There's still going to be a lot of kick-ass action,' he added, 'but I think there's going to be a sweetness also.'

Shazam! is still in pre-production so be patient people.

Iron Merchandise

[Teaser Poster: super duper awesome]
Written by GL

As almost everyone now knows, the Iron Man movie is in the works. And when great superhero movies come into the works, people such as myself and Kal-El can really benefit in more than one way. Firstly, the movie is something that is close to a fan's heart; secondly, it's the merchandise.

The latest news so far is as follows:

Sega Corporation has secured the exclusive rights to distribute and develop products based on Marvel's Iron Man property. Sega will develop and distribute multi-platform video game titles based on the comic book and film iterations of the superhero.

Also just in is the teaser trailer for the Iron Man game (for all your platform gamers out there). To watch this (hopefully) amazing new game, check out this link:

GameTrailers.com

Hasbro will be handling the toy line.

Plus, in the film, Tony Stark will be driving an Audi R8 as part of the studio's deal with the Audi. Two other vehicles, the Audi A6 sedan and the Audi Q7 SUV, will also appear in the film. In exchange, Audi will help finance the film's marketing campaign around the world.

Tim Blake Nelson is The Leader

Written by Kal-El

What another Evolving Movie The Hulk seems to be. With the additional Villain, after announcing that Tim Roth earlier will play The Abomination, and now, Tim Blake Nelson has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' The Incredible Hulk. The movie, which Louis Leterrier is directing, sees Bruce Banner/Hulk on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a monster.

Nelson will play a scientist named Samuel Sterns. In Hulk lore, Sterns aka "The Leader" is one of the Hulk's major antagonists, a menial worker in a chemical research plant who is bombarded with gamma radiation. He emerges from his accident not only green-skinned but also superintelligent, with an oversized brain. God Willing how he would look like in Green with a big oversized brain on his head wearing orange jumpsuits...and of course the Goatee also.

Nelson joins a strong comic book movie cast that includes two-time Oscar nominee Edward Norton (Banner), Liv Tyler (Betty Ross), Tim Roth (villain Emil Blonsky/the Abomination) and William Hurt (General Ross, Betty's father). Zak Penn wrote the latest big-screen adventure of the green goliath, which Universal Pictures is distributing domestically June 13, 2008.

Watchmen Have A Cast

Written by GL

Fans of the very successful graphic novel, Watchmen, rejoice because filming is happening because Warner Bros. Pictures already have a cast, and it's confirmed.

Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan ("Grey's Anatomy") and Malin Akerman will star in the Warner Bros. movie, which Zack Snyder is directing. Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin and Deborah Snyder are producing.

I won't tell you the lay out of the storyline (because that's been done before) but I will let you in the casting for characters.

[Jackie Earle Haley: as the totally stubborn and unfriendly Rorschach]

Haley will play Rorschach, a tough-guy anti-superhero who ignores the ban on costumed vigilantes. Crudup will play Dr. Manhattan, a being with godlike powers. Akerman will play the Silk Spectre, who is the love interest of Dr. Manhattan

Goode will play Ozymandias, a rich former superhero and one of the smartest men in the world.

[Jeffrey Dean Morgan: as the Comedian as well as the guy who played the father in Supernatural]

Wilson will play the Nite-Owl, a crime-figher who uses technical wizardry and has an owl-shaped flying vehicle. And Morgan will play the Comedian, a cigar-chomping, gun-toting vigilante-turned-paramilitary agent.

Shooting is set to start in the fall in Vancouver, with Snyder using many of the filming techniques he used for his other movie-success, 300.

Amalgam Comics: Can You Combine The Best?

[Amalgam Comics: looks familiar doesn't it?]
Written by GL

Did you know that at one time, Marvel Comics and DC Comics collaborated to create several comic books? No. Then you're lucky that The House Of El is here to impart new knowledge for you to show off.

Amalgam Comics a collaboration between Marvel Comics and DC Comics in which the two comic book publishers merged their characters to create new ones (as amazing as that sounds). These characters first appeared in a series of twelve comic books which were published in 1996. A second set (of another twelve comic books) followed a year later.

The actual biography of this new Universe goes like this:

The two comic universes were incarnated into characters know as The Brothers. The Brothers became aware of each other's existence after thousands of years of slumber. To prevent The Brothers from destroying each other, characters from each universe battled each other to determine which universe would survive (several of the matches were actually determined by fans through online voting). Axel Asher, a character created for the event (co-owned by Marvel and DC), served as a gate keeper who became stuck between traveling through both Universes.

When the fights were all concluded, still neither universe was willing to go. To prevent total destruction, the Spectre and the Living Tribunal created a merged universe. This merged universe is not known to the characters that exist within, but this plan is known by Axel Asher and Dr. Strangefate only. Each struggled against the other to reverse or maintain this change.

Eventually, Axel Asher, now known by the name Access, managed to separate The Brothers with the help of Amalgam's heroes. Before the merge had taken place, he had planted 'shards' of the universe in the original Batman and Captain America, and, once he discovered the new Amalgam characters known as Dark Claw and Super-Soldier, he used those shards to give the Spectre and the Tribunal the power to restore the universes. Batman, Captain America and Access were thus able to make The Brothers realise that their conflict was pointless, and all went back to normal.

And that's how it goes.

During the event however, pairs of Marvel and DC characters or teams were merged into single characters. Their names or themes allowed for clever combinations (such as Superman and Captain America became Super Soldier, or Man-Bat and The Thing became Bat-Thing).

For two months, Marvel and DC published Amalgam Comics. During the publication of Amalgam Comics, the companies treated it as if it had always existed, giving it a fake history stretching back to the Golden Age of Comics. It was a big affair. It was so big that reboots of storyline versions were even made - such as the Secret Crisis of the Infinity Hour (a mix of Secret Wars, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinity Gauntlet and Zero Hour). The books even went so far as to have fake letters written by fans talking about stories they had read for years from this merged company line. Now that's good marketing.

Just for a taste of what characters you might expect from such minds:

[Dark Claw: like Batman after too much chilli padi]

You have Amazon, a combination of DC's Wonder Woman and Marvel's Storm. You also have the Judgement League Avengers (combining the Justice League and the Avengers) whose powers are actually mutant in origin. And more famously, Dark Claw (that's Wolverine and Batman) who takes on Hyena (a mix of Sabretooth and Joker).

The first twelve Amalgam titles were released in a single week in 1996, replacing both Marvel's and DC's regular publishing releases. Half the comics in the event were published by Marvel and half by DC. A year later, the stunt was repeated. Later, both publishers collected their issues into trade paperback collections.

[Iron Lantern: I know, I know, no need to guess the combination]

It sounds like a very interesting idea and I would like to get my hands on a few issues to try out (or a trade paperback at least). If you super-friends out there have read and have an opinion (good or bad) about this publication then drop us a line. We'd always like to know what you think about it.

The Head Demon

[Ra's Al Ghul: there is no madness like crazy madness]
Written by GL

There are alot of bad bosses out there in the DC Universe; some are incompetant, and you kinda know that they're gonna lose anyways. Others lose but keep coming back over and over and over again. Ra's Al Ghul is like that: he can't stay down and he the closest thing to Earth's ultimate villain.

Ra's Al Ghul is a supervillain in more ways than one and an enemy of Batman. His name is Arabic for 'the ghoul's head'. Funnily enough, Ra's Al Ghul is considered by many, including comic writers as a 'James Bond'-style villain. He was created in response to the popularity of James Bond film during that time (the late 70's) and to give Batman a more epic enemy selection. However, Ra's Al Ghul's plans are sometimes so big that he has even come into conflict with the JLA. He's a bad mamma-jamma.

Ra's al Ghul was born over five hundred years ago to a tribe of nomads in a desert somewhere in Arabia. He was interested in science from an early age, but being unable to learn any science living as a nomad, he abandons his tribe to live in the city, where he can conduct his scientific research. He becomes a physician and married a woman named Sora, the love of his life.

Ra's Al Ghul discovers the secret of the Lazarus Pit and uses it to save a dying prince by lowering him into it. The prince, however isn't a nice fella to begin with, and is driven completely insane by the Lazarus Pit. He proceeds to strangle Sora. The king of the city, unwilling to admit to his son's crimes, declares Ra's Al Ghul guilty and sentences him to a slow, tortured death in a cage with Sora's corpse.

Ra's Al Ghul is set free by the son of an elderly blind woman. The son feels that he owes the man a debt for once helping his mother. So, Ra's Al Ghul and the son head into the desert to seek the old nomad tribe. Ra's Al Ghul convinces the head of his tribe to follow on a quest for revenge - promising the downfall of the king of the city. By his understanding the theory of disease hundreds of years before anyone else, Ra's Al Ghul is able to infect the prince with a deadly virus through contaminated fabrics. When the ruler of the city comes to ask Ra's Al Ghul to cure the prince again, he kills both him and his son. He then leads his tribe to level the city to the ground and kill all of its inhabitants. Subsequently, the man known as Ra's Al Ghul declares himself the 'Demon's Head'.

"I appear to be a vigorous fifty. I am actually a very vigorous four hundred and forty-eight...or is it four hundred and fifty-three? I lost count during the Black Plague,' said Ra's Al Ghul

There has been no definative account as to the age of Ra's Al Ghul.

Ra's Al Ghul spends the next several centuries journeying the world. During this time, Ra's Al Ghul, his uncle (the former tribe leader), and the boy are all using the Lazarus Pits to prolong their lives. In London, Ra's Al Ghul catches the boy writing memoirs in their old original language - of which he has forbidden. During a battle, Ra's Al Ghul kills the boy and flees to a Lazarus Pit, which he uses. When he returns to their home in London, his uncle has vanished with the remnants of their historical records.

Over time, he becomes a master of many forms of combat, notably fencing. He also builds up vast wealth and creates The Demon, a vast international organization. The famous League of Assassins is one of the many smaller organizations that make up The Demon, sometimes called 'The Demon's Fang' or 'Demonfang'.

Some good graphic novel reading on Ra's Al Ghul that you fans out there might like to consider are:

[Earth's Greatest Heroes: in paper for purchases]
  • Trinity - the meeting of Earth's three greatest heroes, going against the mad Ra's Al Ghul
  • JLA: Tower Of Babel - Ra's finds all the weakness of each JLA member and proceeds to take them out one by one
  • Superman & Batman: Generations - Ra's Al Ghul convinces Batman to try the Lazarus Pits (that sounds like a cool one!)
Ra's Al Ghul has lived for several centuries thanks to his use of Lazarus Pits which he has used countless times. As a side effect to numerous exposures to the pits his strength, speed, stamina, agility, and durability has been enhanced.

However even without those enhancements his long life has given him vast wealth, knowledge, and power. This has allowed him to learn numerous fighting styles over the years, making him a rival in hand-to-hand combat and sword fighting with even Batman. In addition, he is a brilliant tactician. Ra's Al Ghul possesses a genius level intellect with knowledge in a wide variety of sciences and medicine, particularly in the field of alchemy. He is always accompanied by a servant known as Ubu, who is also an especially dangerous fighter. It should be noted that rather than being a single person, Ubu is actually a title held by a line of special servants.

[The Bat & The Demon: a tough match to call]

Because of all this, Ra's Al Ghul is among Batman's most formidable foes. Not only can he physically and mentally challenge the Dark Knight, Ra's Al Ghul is also one of the few supervillains who know of Batman's secret identity.

He has two daugthers; Nyssa (assasinated by Batgirl, Cassandra Cain) and Talia (new apparent leader of The Demon).

Of course, all of us know of the awesome portrayl of Ra's Al Ghul by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. It was a very good representation of this totally insane, yet surprisingly self-directed, villain. But the question still remains, is Ra's Al Ghul immortal?

Thor's Magical Hammer: Mjolnir

Written by Kal-El

As a special info piece this week, we kick off with Mjolnir, is the Magical Hammer wielded by Thor that gives him many of his powers and abilities.

Mjolnir can only be wielded by those that are deemed "worthy". Mjolnir is the enchanted hammer wielded by the Marvel hero: Thor. It was forged by the legendary Troll weaponsmith Geirrodur and made from the mystical ore Uru. It has a long wooden hilt, and ends with a thong to secure it around the bearer's hand. Mjolnir bears the following inscription:

[Mjolnir's inscription]

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor"

As the inscription states, only those the enchantments of Mjolnir deem worthy may even lift the hammer. Some who have been able to wield Mjolnir with likes of Odin, Thor, Captain America, Awesome Android, Thunderstrike, Beta Ray Bill, Buri, Superman, Wonder Woman, Red Norvell, Hulk and Dargo Ktor. The ability to wield Mjolnir is not necessarily permanent, and may also depend on need. It was even stated that Superman was able to lift Mjolnir for only a short period of time.

Anyone holding Mjolnir possesses certain powers and abilities. Often the subject's clothing will transform into Asgardian armor similar to Thor's, and their strength and durability are altered to match that of the god. Mjolnir is extremely durable although the most extreme stress or damage from other Uru-based weaponry can cause it damage. It can be used to strike an opponent or target with great force. It can produce devastating blasts, can absorb and redirect energy, and can command the elements of the storm when stamped twice on the ground. If thrown, Mjolnir will return to the bearer even after striking an opponent. Mjolnir can detect certain types of magic and enchantments, and has different properties when used against certain mystical or demonic elements. When swung above the head can open portals to other dimensions, and can also open temporal portals (this power has been lost). If swung by the hilt and let go (so that the bearer is holding the leather thong), one can achieve flight by being pulled behind the hammer including the ability to change direction mid-filght.

[ Thor: God of Thunder ]

While the bearer is in control of Mjolnir while they wield it, Odin has demonstrated a greater degree of control over it, and it can be manipulated to an extent by magnetism (as was the case with Magneto). Mjolnir has also been enchanted to appear as though it were other items. When Odin gave Thor the mortal form of Donald Blake, Mjolnir was given the form of an ordinary walking stick. As Donald Blake, Thor found the stick in a cave and when he struck it upon the ground he would transform into his Asgardian form.

[ Thor Corps ]

Thor Corps Several weapons have been created that were similar to Mjolnir. After being able to wield Mjolnir, and proving himself deserving, Odin forged Stormbreaker for Beta Ray Bill which has the same enchantments as Mjolnir (except only Bill can wield it). Thunderstrike's mace granted Eric Masterson some of the powers of Thor. Thor's brother Loki has also made copies of Mjolnir in the past, as can people permitted to use the forge Mjolnir was created in.

Recently Tony Stark and Reed Richards created a copy of Mjolnir for a cyborg clone of Thor that they created to decide the outcome of the Civil War. This copy most likely did not have the same powers as the original, and was technologically based rather than enchanted. It was, however, shown to generate concussive blasts of electrical energy (one of which was used to kill Bill Foster), and may have granted the wielder with the ability to fly (although since the clone of Thor was part robot it may have been the clone doing the flying and not Mjolnir).

Keep on reading dear fans, more and more coming up, as we dig in deep for more information only at the The House of El.

Witness The "Day-Walker"

Written by Kal-El

Into the mist of darkness, where demons and creatures of the night lays hidden behind the shadows, there awaiting for their feast oh humans, sucking the life out of every human being, and disappears when the coming of dawn. Only one man could stop this evil madness, Half-man, Half-Vampire, they call him the Day-Walker,we call him Blade.

The man known as Blade was born into a world of blood and darkness over seven decades ago. His mother, a prostitute, was forced to seek a stranger's assistance when she experienced severe labor complications. The stranger, Deacon Frost, claimed to be a doctor, but he was actually a ravenous vampire. Frost feasted on the woman as she gave birth, passing on a series of enzymes that altered her baby. The enzymes entered the infant's bloodstream, transforming him into a Dhampir - a being tainted by a vampire's kiss, but not converted.

[Blade's Origins taken from the Marvel Comics]

Frost was driven away before he could slay the child, but Blade's mother died. Blade was taken in by Blade's Mothers coworker, They raised him until he was nine years old. Though he lacked superhuman physical prowess, he trained himself to become an Olympic-level athlete and formidable hand-to-hand combatant. Most notably, he became an expert with edged weapons and especially knives and daggers.

One day, Walking home from school, Blade saw an old man being attacked by three bandits. Blade fought off the hoodlums, who turned out to be vampires, and rescued the old man. He learned that the old man was Jamal Afari, a jazz trumpeter and vampire hunter. Afari moved into Madame Vanity's brothel and trained the young Blade in both music and combat. Blade was soon able to defeat many of the weak, younger vampires that he and Afari found in abundance.

However, Blade's victories made him cocky. He soon joined a street gang, the Bloodshadows, which was headed by a much older and more powerful vampire than any Blade had met before: Lamia. Blade barely defeated Lamia, and, in doing so, lost his girlfriend Glory, a loss which caused him not only to accept his destiny as an enemy of the undead but also to swear to it forever.

Afari himself later fell prey to the attack of the vampire Dracula, the first occurrence in an ongoing battle between him and Blade. Blade slew the vampire Afari and followed Dracula back to Europe.

Blade tracked Dracula throughout Europe and Asia Minor, then on into the far east, staking him many times, but never completely destroying him. In China, Blade joined Ogun Strong's vampire hunters which included Azu, Orji and Musenda. Together, they staked Dracula again. Once more, Dracula survived, and taught Blade an object lesson by killing all of his new-found friends except Musenda (who eventually retired from vampire hunting). However, Orji created a lasting impression on Blade with his use of wooden daggers as a means to combat vampires. Sometime after Orji's death, Blade mastered the use of daggers and adopted the use of wooden daggers as his preferred method of combating vampires. Consumed by grief, Blade resumed his quest alone. It was decades before he again allowed himself to endanger another human.

Blade eventually located Dracula in Paris, where he first encountered Quincy Harker (son of Jonathan Harker) and his vampire hunters, unofficially dubbed the "Drac Pack". Blade had heard of Harker before, but had never met him. Because of his mercurial temperament, Blade had a strained but steady relationship with Quincy Harker, Rachel Van Helsing (granddaughter of Abraham Van Helsing), Taj Nital, and Frank Drake, vampire hunters dedicated to destroying Dracula. Blade never joined the group, but served as their ally on several occasions.

After an unsuccessful battle with Dracula, Blade realized for the first time that he was immune to turning from a vampire's bite. Armed with this knowledge, he left the group and began a quest to find the vampire that had killed his mother and avenge her.

[ Nothing would stop Blade on finding his mother's killer]

Blade's hunt for his mother's killer next led him to Boston, where he again encountered the Drac Pack and their new ally: Dracula. Blade spurned the alliance and berated Harker for it until he faced Doctor Sun, the common threat that drove these natural enemies together. During the battle with Sun, Blade met up with one of Sun's allies, whose face provoked a strange reaction in him, dredging up long-buried memories. The vampire escaped, and Blade again abandoned the Drac Pack, and set out on his own.

Blade eventually encountered Hannibal King, a private detective who had been turned into a vampire by Deacon Frost fifty years ago; however, to further gain Blade's trust, King lied about his age, saying it was only five. While initially distrusting King, Blade teamed up with him to track down Frost.

Blade and King fought together against Blade's evil doppelgänger (created when Frost killed his mother), who absorbed the real Blade. King enlisted the help of Daimon Hellstrom, the so-called Son of Satan, who exorcised Blade from his doppelgänger and killed it with King's help. Blade and King eventually caught up with Frost who had created an army of vampiric doppelgängers, one for each of his victims. Together, they shut down Frost for good, forging a lasting friendship.

Blade remained active in New Orleans, defeating the vampire Ulysses Sojourner and his own former ally, Morbius, the Living Vampire, who was under Sojourner's mental thrall. Blade followed Morbius (himself a former member of both the Midnight Sons and the Nine) back to New York, where, while teamed with Spider-Man,Blade was bitten by Morbius.

Blade's blood enzymes reacted unexpectedly with Morbius's unique form of vampirism to produce an almost perfected form of the virus, granting Blade many vampire strengths while eliminating weaknesses inherent to a vampire. This was at this time that Blade assumed the unofficial title of "Daywalker" among his prey.

Recently, Blade has come under the eye of the S.H.I.E.L.D division Project: Silvereye, which sought to use his blood in creating cloned vampire operatives. Blade shut down the project with the help of two vampire-hunting twins, Mosha and Mikado. Blade was then forced to combat a hostile takeover of the vampire world by a breed of vampire called the Tryks while simultaneously repelling the advances of their queen.

One of Blade's recent solo adventures involved a plot by Dracula to assume the title of Vampire Lord officially, by becoming a god-like being like Varnae. Blade joined Noah Van Helsing and several vampire hunters from across the globe to stop Dracula from succeeding.

Blade has since encountered the Punisher and has taken up protecting a Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans from an escalating vampire population, most notably alongside fellow black superheroes Luke Cage, Brother Voodoo, and the Black Panther. A short time later, Blade was also invited to attend the wedding of the Black Panther and Storm in the Panther's African nation of Wakanda.

In Other media, i'm sure everyone knows about this, Blade also is one of the earliest Marvel characther to ever made a movie in a big hollywood style, as a matter of fact, Blade came through the big screen with screaming vampires in 1998, Blade was played by actor Wesley Snipes in the title role, Kris Kristofferson as Abraham Whistler, Blade's mentor, and Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost. The film was written by David S. Goyer and directed by Stephen Norrington. The film diverges slightly from the comic Blade in the demeanor of the character. Traditionally, Blade was often presented as loquacious and boastful, yet in the film he is stoic and nearly silent. The nature of his abilities are based more on his later titles rather than his original apperences; having vampiric powers, but none of the inherent weaknesess. Blade 2 came out in 2002, and following after that is Blade Trinity which was concluded in 2004.

[ Wesley Snipes / Kirk Jones both took the role of Blade]

A television series based on the films airs on Spike TV and stars rapper/actor Kirk Jones as Blade. Set some time after the events of Blade: Trinity, the series deals with Blade fighting an evil vampire named Marcus Van Sciver in Detroit, which is also Blade's birthtown (in the series). As was shown in the movies, Blade's birth name is Eric Brooks and his mother was named Vanessa and now it has been revealed that Blade's father is named Robert Brooks, and that he raised Blade until he was twelve and his vampiric nature became more apparent, such as with his "thirst" for human blood. The Conflicts often come up between Whistler's explanation of Blade's origin in the movie and the explanation of Blade's origin in the television series. Blade the series was cancelled by Spike TV after the first season.

Cool huh? There you have it guys, nothing like a good vampiric story, so like every other times i would end an origins story, Don't walk alone on a dark scary alley, if you happen to see vampires hanging out at cafe's, dont even bother going there, they only like to order "Hot Blood-Tarik". Keep reading, Have a nice day folks.

The New Punisher Is Here !

Written by GL

The new Punisher actor has been announced: and it's Ray Stevenson! This highly anticipated movie following Dolph Lundgren in 1989, and Thomas Jane in 2004, has finally found a new replacing actor.

You may know Ray Stevenson if you're an avid fan of Rome (the television series). Funnily enough, he was also in the 2004 King Arthur movie, where he played Dagonet (the warrior who fell through the ice, if I'm not mistaken).

This new Punisher movie is to be directly by a lady named Lexi Alexander - a director famous for her movies about hooligans and other bad, bad stuff. Hopefully, she'll be able to translate this to her version of Punisher.

No expected date of release announced yet. Keep watching.

The Darknight's Fans have said it Mr. Keaton

Written by Kal-El

Not bad guys! Who is the coolest guy to ever portray as Batman, and your votes says MICHAEL KEATON is your ultimate Batman there ever was, personally i would have voted for him as well, guess i grew up watching him has still left me with quite the impression of his performance, But there's also nothing wrong with Adam West as he was also probably the first Batman of our time, as for Christian Bale's, i say the Mr. Bale's is the perfect next guy to ever receive the torch from the other Batman, well that's what i think and we at The House of El hope he could continue to bring the fear just like Michael Keaton did. Well done guys, keep the votes coming.

Shazam! Movie Updates

Written by Kal-El

Reporters have talked to screenwriter John August about adaptating Shazam!, for which the movie will be set in present day. Here's a clip: I mentioned to August that two years ago I chatted with one of the "Shazam!" producers, Michael E. Uslan, and he told me even then that any Captain Marvel movie’s great challenge would be answering one question:

If you were a little kid who could turn into an all-powerful, handsome adult, why on Earth would you ever change back?

August’s answer: "That's absolutely a key part of the movie. Billy doesn’t want to turn back, that’s central to the story. And a lot of the movie hinges upon that and Billy’s relationship with his best friend and that disparity. They are two teen friends and then suddenly one of them is 30 and a hero. So it creates tension. You know, as a screenwriter, that’s the thing, to take what seems to be a problem and make it a key element of the story. But Michael hit it on the head, that’s one of the emotional cores of this story. So to me it's a great problem to have."

The Wolverine Spin Off!!

Written by Kal-El

Alright Wolverine fans! Look out for the new upcoming Wolverine Spin Off! As 20th Century Fox has set Gavin Hood to direct Hugh Jackman in Wolverine, the "X-Men" spinoff that was written by David Benioff. The film, which begins production in November for a 2008 release, will be produced by Lauren Shuler-Donner, Jackman and his Seed Productions partner John Palermo.

Using several resources that include the Marvel Comics lore, along with the more recent Weapon X graphic novels by Frank Miller, Wolverine mixes action with an origin story about how Logan emerged from a barbaric experiment as an indestructible mutant with retractable razor-sharp claws.

After three "X-Men" films grossed over $1 billion worldwide, the studio has made Wolverine a top priority. "I have long been a fan of Gavin's work and know he will make a masterful film with the character intensity and action beats the fans expect," said Jackman.

Expect more updates coming from this news, or maybe sooner than you think, stay tune with The House of El.
