300th Post: Iron Man Titanium Series

Written by Kal-El

The Titanium Iron Man 3.75" Figure features some articulation and includes a display base. Adorned by the classic Iron Man colors, this is a modern version of Iron Man depicted in the process lift-off flight. Suspended above his display base by billowing dual-colored clouds of rocket exhaust. He also appears to be waving to someone on his left side. Also now available, Juggernaut and Captain America.

Initially Tony Stark was wounded in a Vietnamese jungle and captured by a Communist tyrant. Stark was ordered to build a powerful weapon for his captor but instead took the opportunity to covertly build a rough draft suit of armor that would both sustain Stark’s injury and provide him with the power to escape. Later, Stark drastically improved upon the original design, altering and upgrading the armor as more advanced technology became available.

Get it for the price of U$17.49 (BND$30), Currently what being sold in Hua ho is Dr. Ock, Green Goblin and Spiderman. These could be a good start for collectors to collect. Get ready to burn your wallet....but it's cool...Just stay home and read blogs.

Autobots, Plug And Play

Written by GL

I got a call from Kal-El in the later part of the evening yesterday. Transformers: The Game is out in stores for your cheap purchase.

Transformers: The Game is totally based on the 2007 film Transformers, released in North America in only this month. Console versions are being developed by Traveller's Tales for the PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, PS3, and PC. A different PSP version was developed by Savage Entertainment.

Transformers: Autobots & Transformers: Decepticons are the Nintendo DS versions of Transfomers: The Game. Vicarious Visions, who was tasked with bringing Transformers: The Game to the Nintendo DS, chose to adapt the DS version into two separate games.

Transformers: Autobots follows the Autobots' perspective while Transformers: Decepticons follow the perspective of the Decepticons.

In Transformers: The Game, the player can choose which side to play, the Autobots or the Decepticons. Each side has a different story. Choosing the Autobots will follow the original movie's plotline while the Decepticons will have an alternate story. The game features different Transformers on each side with their own strengths, skills, and weaknesses.

There are different features on each platform. The PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC versions all have the same features. There's been confirmation that skins of G1 versions of the characters, including Starscream, Jazz and Optimus Prime, are included on the console versions.

The PS2 version has fewer while the PSP version is totally different. Instead, the game is a third-person shooter featuring one storyline both for the Autobots and Decepticons. Also, the players is able to play a total of 25 characters instead of 9.

GameStop/EB Games is selling an exclusive Transformers: The Game (Cybertron Edition) for the Xbox 360. This Collector's Edition contains an exclusive in-game Cybertron level, an exclusive making of the game DVD, an exclusive Transformers comic book by Simon Furman, and an exclusive Cybertron Edition box art. That sounds pretty cool.

Welcome to Thanagar

Written by Kal-El

Thanagar, it was a peaceful scientifically-advanced world, in which crime was virtually unknown. It was run by a single government and there wasn't any need for a police force. That is until an alien race called the Manhawks, who instigate the practice of stealing for the thrill of it, invaded.

As a result, Paran Katar established the "Hawk-Police" (or "Wingmen"). Amongst the first Wingmen was Paran's son, Katar Hol. Order was restored, but not completely, as a few Thanagarians also became involved in thrill-stealing.

Katar and his wife Shayera Hol, also a member of the force, later arrived on Earth pursuing a shapeshifting villain named Byth. Katar and Shayera decided to remain on Earth and study human police methods. They became superheroes as Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

Following a plague, Thanagar entered an expansionist phase, and began a war with Rann. This was eventually resolved, but Thanagar made several covert attempts to take over Earth. Katar and Shayera sided with Earth in this conflict. The Shadow War of Hawkman continued up to the Crisis.

Following the Justice League animated series; Hawkgirl Shayera Hol described Thanagar as "a war-like world. There one must strike first or die". The animated Thanagarians appear to have actual wings as part of their bodies.

In the episode "The Terror Beyond," it is learned that in ancient times, the people of Thanagar worshiped a pantheon of extradimensional entities known as The Great Old Ones. At that time, Thanagar was a hard world. Theirs was a primitive and savage culture; in return for offerings made to Ixthultu, the Old Ones leader, he gave them agriculture, mathmatics, and philosophy. The foundations of their entire culture. As they matured, however, the Thanagarians stopped worshipping them; modern Thanagarians bow down to no higher power. Their knowledge of the Great Old Ones was used in the creation of their personal weaponry. For this reason, their weapons (such as Hawkgirl's mace and Hro Talak's battle-axe) have mystical properties and can work against Green Lantern's power ring or Superman's invulnerability.

In the later episodes entitled "Starcrossed", an emissary of Thanagar, the army commander Hro Talak, declared to Earth that, "For generations, we on Thanagar have been locked in a bloody war with these monsters the Gordanians, referred to as 'our mortal enemies'." It was revealed that Hawkgirl was actually not a policewoman sent through a wormhole as she had earlier claimed, but a lieutenant with the army.

Shayera's duty was to be ambassador to the Earth (similar in capacity to her fellow Leaguer Wonder Woman's role for Patriarch's World and the Amazonian culture); she was to ensure mutual co-operation between Thanagar and Earth. Thus, she set up the alliance between the two planets when it seemed the Gordanians were about to invade the Earth.

The Thanagarian army claimed they would set up a planetary force field to help the inhabitants of Earth. After gaining the go-ahead and acceptance of world governments and the Justice League, they forcefully imposed martial law and stated they were establishing a garrison on Earth.

Lt. Hol believed that she was doing the best thing for Earth. However, not even she knew that the Thanagarians actually intended to build a hyper-space bypass network that they would use to assault the Gordanian homeworld.

Hro Talak stated:“ For decades, the Gordanian homeworld has been protected behind an impregnable defensive line. But this chain of hyperspace bypasses will allow our armada to jump their defenses and make a direct assault on their empire. Earth is the last link in that chain. Once that chain is completed, we can attack and wipe out the Gordanian threat forever! ”

Lt. Hol protested that "if we open a hole in hyperspace, it will destroy this entire planet!" To which Talak replied, "Sadly, yes. For Thanagar to live, Earth must die." At this point, Lt. Hol betrayed her homeworld to save her adopted homeworld, for which she was exiled and stripped of her rank. The Thanagarian military, under Commander Talak's orders, retreated from Earth.

Justice League Unlimited showed that Hro Talak's task force returned just after the final battle with the main force of the Gordanian invasion. In a suicide attack, Talak carried out a kamikaze ramming attack, motivated by revenge in despair over failing his mission.

Thanagar was completely conquered by the Gordanians, although an underground Resistance exists (such as the one on Korugar); the former army command operatives Paran Dul and Kragger mention having been part of it.

The Thanagarian response to their final fall appears to be a general consensus blaming the action of Shayera Hol, as she destroyed their hope to defeat the Gordoinians in the war, costing Thanagar its freedom. As a member of the Justice League's founding council, she admits her faults and justified her actions to the Justice League:

I came to this planet as a patriot. I had a mission, and I carried it out. What I couldn’t know, was that I would come to care for the Earth, and her people. That I’d come to care for all of you. I’ve spent the last five years torn between my feelings and my duty.

The final fate of Thanagar under Gordanian rule remains unknown.

The Man Who Has Everything

Written by Kal-El

We all know that Superman has all the smart villains to match his strength, but what we’re here to tell is about an origin of a Supervillian that is purely all about the Power and Strength that could also match up with Superman’s own superpowers, I’m not here to talk about his famous arch enemy Lex Luthor, Darkseid or Doomsday even though he killed him before, a more under rated but not to be forgotten villain that goes by the name of Mongul.

Mongul is one of the supervillians that are as strong as Superman himself, he was originally supposed to be DC Comics version of Marvel Comics’ Thanos, for use in the DC Universe which is quite ironic, considering that Thanos is supposedly originated as an imitation of DC’s Darkseid. However he is quite famous for being in Alan Moore’s (Watchmen Writer) Story titled “For The Man Who Has Everything”. This was also a title in one of the adapted series episodes of the Justice League animated cartoons.

Unlike Thanos or Darkseid, Mongul is a small minded, self centered tyrant who rarely plans beyond his own greed. While he is very intelligent, he does not have the charisma or personality to inspire the loyalty needed for his own grand, galactic conquests; rather he is very simply a Supervillian who happens to have an enormous physical prowess. This makes it relatively easy for other Supervillians to manipulate him and for quick witted superheroes to defeat him using their quick wits, rather than using brute force on him.

Originally, Mongul was a ruler of his own alien race called the humanoids. He was eventually deposed by a revolution and Mongul swore he’d reconquer his subjects, but in the end, he sought the most powerful weapon in the Universe: The Artificial Planet, Warworld. In order to activate this, he will need a “key” device, which was under the care of The Martian ManHunter. Mongul kidnapped three of Superman’s friends (Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and Steve Lombard) Hoping to force Superman into geeting him the Key. Superman fought against and had defeated the Manhunter and obtained the key. In the subsequent scuffle, the Martian Manhunter rescued Superman’s friends, but Mongul had already escaped with the Key.

Mongul activated Warworld and linked his mind directly to its controls. Warworld was attacked by Super Kryptonians: Superman and Supergirl. Mongul used its superweapons against them. Almost too late, he realized that the control’s drain on his brain was too strong; however he had managed to escape just before the heroes destroyed Warworld.

A Few years later, Mongul again tried to steal a Superweapon, a ray machine that could possibly destroy a planet, which was used by the empress of another galaxy to blackmail its citizen into obedience. It was controlled by the empress’s crown. In a big plot to obtain the crown, Mongul had killed the empress; he had also captured her brother, the alien superhero Starman and threatened to kill him unless Starman’s lover gave him the crown. He got the crown, but was attacked again by Superman, this proved to be a diversion whil Starman destroyed the weapon, but in the end again, Mongul escapes.

As he seeks revenge on Superman, Mongul stole a Sun-Eater from the Controller who kept it and tried to use it to devour the Earth’s solar system. With help from the Legion of Super-Heroes, the Sun-Eater was destroyed and finally, Superman was able to defeat Mongul in Hand to Hand battle.

The Next Arrow

Written by GL

Roy Harper is a hero of the great DC Comics Universe. He has been known for decades as Green Arrow's teenage sidekick Speedy. He first appeared in 1941. But, he has been known by several different names before then; formerly Arsenal and currently a member of the Justice League of America under the new guise of Red Arrow.

Roy Harper was raised by Brave Bow, a Navajo medicine chief after his father, a forest ranger, died in a forest fire. Under Brave Bow's teaching, Roy became a remarkable archer, and, after Brave Bow's death, Roy was adopted by Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, and became the Green Arrow's sidekick, Speedy.

In Earth-Two, Speedy was as member of the Seven Soldiers of Victory and the All-Star Squadron in the 1940s along with Green Arrow. Aside from their origins of having been trained together, their history nearly parallels the history of the Earth-One versions up until the point when Green Arrow and Speedy along with their teammates were thrown into various periods of time during a battle with the villain known as Nebula Man. He and his teammates were later retrieved by the Justice Society and the Justice League in order to assist them in saving Earth-Two from the machinations of their old foe the Iron Hand.

During the Crisis on Infinite Earths a new solitary universe was created at the dawn of time by fusing several universes, including Earth-Two, together. Whether he ceased to exist or exists only as an aspect of the post-Crisis Earth has not been determined, although his mentor (Green Arrow) died during the final part of the Crisis defending the new Earth from the Anti-Monitor.

Meanwhile, an Earth-One version joined Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad and Wonder Girl in the newly-formed Teen Titans, a group originally formed from the various teen sidekicks active in DC comics at that time.

Speedy was initially a successful member and began dating Wonder Girl (Donna Troy). Some time later, however, Roy's fortunes took a turn for the worse. The Titans disbanded, Roy and Donna broke up, and then Green Arrow both lost his fortune and began neglecting Roy. While the Green Arrow was away on a cross-country adventure with Green Lantern and Black Canary, Roy became addicted to heroin. Once Roy's secret was discovered, Green Arrow angrily punched him and threw him out on the street. Green Lantern later found him and left him in the care of Black Canary, who stayed by his side while he went through withdrawal. Soon after, he had a confrontation with Green Arrow that caused the two of them to stop working together.

While still helping the Teen Titans on occasional missions, Roy frequently worked as a counselor for various anti-drug programs. During this time, Roy established government contacts, and was soon hired by the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI, also known as Checkmate) as a drug enforcement agent.

Roy was given an assignment to go undercover and gain the trust of the villain Cheshire. The intention was to turn Cheshire over to the authorities, but the two fell in love and had an affair. Roy could not bring himself to turn her in, but he was concerned that his presence endangered Cheshire's life, so he left her, unaware that Cheshire was pregnant with his child.

Roy eventually learned that he was the father of Cheshire's daughter, Lian. He went on a mission with Nightwing (the former Robin) to track down Cheshire and prevent her from assassinating a group of diplomats. Roy was captured by Cheshire and then freed by Nightwing, who also brought Roy's daughter. Cheshire had left Lian in Roy's care.

Roy later returned to the Titans. At this time, he adopted the new identity of Arsenal, now equipped with a vast array of high-tech weaponry.

Soon, another team of Teen Titans emerged. This group consisted of a teen-aged Atom (de-aged by events in Zero Hour) and new heroes Argent, Risk, Joto and Prysm. The team was funded by Loren Jupiter, who had also funded a group of Titans during Roy's time on the team.

Jupiter gathered together the original Titans (now going by the aliases of Nightwing, Tempest, Flash and Arsenal) to combat the threat of his bitter, super-powered son Jarrod Jupiter (Haze). New and old Titans joined forces to defeat Haze – but at a price; Joto apparently lost his life, and Arsenal felt responsible for his death. Arsenal remained with this new group of Titans for a time, but eventually left the group before it disbanded.

Arsenal later came into conflict with Vandal Savage. Savage had discovered that both Roy and his daughter Lian were his descendants. Thus, their organs were suitable for him to harvest to prolong his life.

Roy was able to save his daughter from Savage. After this ordeal, Roy adopted a new look to reflect his Navajo heritage. Shortly after, the original five Titans decided to re-form the team. Arsenal served as a full-time member on the team, and resided at the new Titans Tower with his daughter, Lian.

Later, a mysterious conglomerate known as Optitron offered to sponsor the Titans and Young Justice after summoning them to San Francisco. Before any decisions could be made, a cybernetic girl from the future (known as Indigo) invaded the complex, and immediately engaged both teams in combat. With half the group out of commission, the remaining members tried to track down Indigo, but instead encountered a rogue Superman android, which had been activated. Caught by surprise, Lilith had her neck snapped by the Superman android, killing her instantly. Troia (Donna Troy's new identity) tried valiantly to defeat the Superman Android, but he released a deadly heat beam directly through her chest, killing her. Indigo arrived and shut down the Superman Android, leaving Arsenal and Nightwing to mourn the fallen Troia. Shaken by these losses, Nightwing decided to officially end the Titans.

Roy saw an opportunity. He accepted Optitron's offer and set about forming a new team: the Outsiders. He began by buying a massive secret underground headquarters beneath New York City. Roy outfitted the shelter with state-of-the-art equipment and began recruiting members for the new team. He successfully coaxed the veteran Metamorpho, as well as newcomers Grace and Thunder into joining the team. He also decided to accept Indigo as a member. Even though she had been responsible for activating the Superman android, and ultimately for Lilith's and Troia's deaths, her memories were wiped clean and she convinced Roy that she wanted to atone for what she had done.

Indigo's presence would prove to be a major sticking point for Arsenal's last recruit: Nightwing. The Titans' former leader was completely unwilling to renew his involvement in a team after such a devastating loss. Arsenal argued that the Outsiders were the next logical step for them beyond the Titans, and that perhaps a team of strangers would operate more efficiently than a team with so many emotional attachments. Nightwing, while still reluctant, agreed to join and lead the Outsiders shortly after defeating Gorilla Grodd.

Arsenal was shot in the chest while attempting to stop Brother Blood from activating a global network of sleeper agents. He survived, but was sidelined for months. In the interim, he assigned the Huntress as his replacement. He was hesitant to resume active duty, feeling afraid of his own limitations, but returned with encouragement from Nightwing.

Not long after his recovery, the Outsiders took on a case which involved a child-slaver and molester named Tanner. One of Tanner's informants recognized Roy from years prior, and led Tanner to Roy's daughter, Lian. Lian's nanny was killed and the girl was branded with Tanner's mark. The Outsiders arrived just in time to save Lian and other children from being flown out of New York.

Oddly, his near-death from gunshot wounds saved his life when soon he met Deathstroke. The villain, Arsenal discovered, had been posing as Batman and feeding him information since the Outsiders began. Deathstroke and Arsenal fought, with Deathstroke intending to kill him, but when the mercenary discovered the bullet scars on Arsenal's chest, he figured Arsenal had suffered enough and gave him a "pass". About the same time, Arsenal was also kidnapped by Green Arrow's nemesis Constantine Drakon. Drakon was working with the Riddler, and he slit Roy's throat so that he would have to apply constant pressure or die. The Outsiders helped search for and rescue Roy.

it was currently established that Roy will be serving on the new Justice League. While in battle, Hal Jordan refers to him as "Red Arrow" (attempting to cover for the fact that he almost called him by his real name) and Roy shows some surprise to the use of this. He accepts the membership of the League and official adoption of the new costumed identity Red Arrow, justified as a final "coming of age" and outgrowing his troubled relation with Oliver Queen, his adoptive father and Green Arrow. In fact his costume was a gift from Queen himself, acknowledging that even if he could never make up for having pushed him into drugs and leaving him alone in his time of greatest need, he could at least give him a new purpose and a new chance at life.

Poll Result: The Silver Surfer's Name

Written by GL

It seems that some of you all may be getting too smart for us. Or perhaps, it seems many of you were actually paying very hard attention to the movie: the majority of you guys got it right. Good on you.

Norrin Radd was an unlucky young astronomer from a planet pretty far from here. In order to save his homeworld from destruction by a fearsome cosmic dude known as Galactus, Norrin made a bargain with the being, pledging himself to serve as its herald (his messenger, of sorts). Norrin was gifted with a small portion of Galactus' Power Cosmic. He acquired great powers, a silvery appearance, and a surfboard-like vehicle — all modeled after a childhood fantasy of his.

Known from then on as the Silver Surfer, Norrin began to roam the cosmos searching for new planets for Galactus to consume. He is the shiniest character in the Marvel Universe.

Good job, people. It's all about the learning.

Iron Man With A Fury, Finally

Written by GL

The Iron Man movie is finally coming up: the filming is on, the cast is set and the promotional stuff is leaking out. To add more fuel to his fire, we'd like to hit you readers out there with the newest news on the upcoming feature, and it involves none other than the famous Pulp Fiction star pictured above.

Just released information states (for a fact) that Samuel L. Jackson will be shooting scenes as the rough-tough, super spy Nick Fury. It doesn't say how big his role is, but it could be assumed to be a little bit of a cameo.

On a side note, Nick Fury was one of the films Marvel Studios announced as one of the projects. The movie, based on the superhero with military roots, has screenwriter Andrew Marlowe attached. Does this mean that we might be seeing a Nick Fury spin-off as well?

This comes in light of rumors about a Silver Surfer spin-off from the Fantastic Four franchise. Will the madness ever stop? Let's hope not.

Iron Man is directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges. Set to open on May 2, 2008. Keep your hats on until then.

Above and below are new posters for the next Marvel hits confirmed to be coming to a cinema within driving distance of your home.

Stan To Have His Own Action Figure

Written by GL

Hasbro will pay plastic tribute to Stan Lee, the 84-year-old creator of Spider-Man, Hulk, X-Men, Fantastic Four and other comic-book heroes by portraying him as a 6-inch tall Marvel Legends action figure.

The toy looks like Lee and even wears khaki pants, a blue windbreaker and eyeglasses.

'We feel it's long overdue that Stan Lee be immortalized as an action figure, much like the dozens of marvelous characters that he has created for years and years,' said Eric Nyman, Hasbro's vice president of marketing. 'And it couldn't be more fitting than to create him as a 'Marvel Legends' figure.'

The limited-edition, $14.99 (or just over B$20) toy will be introduced next month in San Diego at Comic-Con International (it's made exclusively for this show - it's a same none of us can afford to go).

So if you've ever woken up in the middle of the night wishing for a Stan Lee action figure, now is your chance. Later, true believers.

Series 5 With A Vengence

Written by GL

Available for pre-order for February 2008 is the Superman/Batman Series 5, titled Vengeance 2. And, just by looking at the above, you can already tell that this series is a must-have. Do I feel dumb for not keeping up with this series? Yes, I do.

This series features a very nicely done Joker (which comes packed with Mr. MXYZPLTK), a new re-version of Supergirl, a busty Powergirl, and a Superman/Batman.

I'm not too sure about the story behind this Superman/Batman figure, but I'd like to know. Nonetheless, each figure comes are 6.5" with multiple points of articulation and a platform for display. Like I said, they're only available for pre-order and only being shipped in February 2008.

Check out Big Bad Toy Store: going rate is US$49.99 or just under B$80.

The World Needs A Robin

Written by GL

It's about time a good Robin action figure was released. And luckily, DC Direct is smart enough to realize that.

Robin, The Boy Wonder, is the newest addition to DC Direct's line of realistically proportioned, super-heroic 1:6 scale figures. This latest hero is the first of DC Direct's accurately scaled teen style figure, and has all the detail and articulation that collectors have come to expect. The Robin 13" Deluxe Collector Figure comes clothed in an authentically detailed fabric costume, and includes a display stand and is packaged in a deluxe 4-color window box with a fifth panel. Plus, notice that you can unmask the figure as well. Awesome.

However, Robin is only available for pre-order and shipping for this item is scheduled only for February 2008. That's a long time away, and a long time to wait. Unless you're as serious about the craziness as we are.

Head to Alter Ego Comics to buy the Robin 13" Deluxe Collector Figure for US$59.49 or just about B$91.

Spawn RAH Deluxe Figure

Written by Kal-El

I know we haven't post any stuff on Image Comics superheroes, but i could relate to them as i grew up with cousins who have read comics like, McFarlane's Spawn, Supreme, Savage Dragon, Wildstorms etc, and i did grew into it for awhile, but i only had an interest in Spawn (Sorry guys), due to his own original story and they did released a movie on him previously in the late 90's. But we will try to do some input information on it as time goes by maybe in the future.

As a Superhero Fan and Also an Action Figure collector appreciator, I will resume my role to distribute vast information for other Superhero addicts to build and make this nation to what it was before. We will post stuff that i think could help people believe in Superheroes again, not because we have reach that age of a sense of not wanting to lose our childhood memories, but to regain what was never here in Brunei.

So i now present to you Michael Crawford's Review on the Action Figure on Spawn's RAH Deluxe Collectors figure.

Does that look like an Harley?? What we are looking at here is what is to be the latest project made by the Batman Production team for the sequel movie of Batman The Darknight, The BatPod. It is totally Ridable they say, You just have to be a little bit crazy and entirely French to do it.

Specifically, you need to be Jean-Pierre Goy, the stunt rider who's spent the last few months jumping Batman's newest batbike at some top-secret location in England to prep for next summer's Bruce Wayne caper, "The Dark Knight," starring Christian Bale as the caped one.

Goy is the only person who's ridden the new Batpod — a bike so outrageous it's hard to believe it was even built. It's not just because it's tricked out with grappling hooks, cannons and machine guns. The front and rear tires are both a monstrously huge 508 millimeters, and the engines are in the hubs of each wheel. Steering isn't by hand but by shoulder, since there aren't handlebars. Instead, there are shields that fit each arm like sleeves and have the ability to rotate around the bike's frame. The two foot pegs are set 3 1/2 feet apart on either side of the tank, which the rider lies on, belly down.

That tank also moves up and down — you know, in case Batman needs to dodge bullets or slide under semis.

And you know he will.

Lucius Fox, gadget guru for Wayne Enterprises' Applied Sciences division (played by Morgan Freeman), is the guy who came up with the idea. At least he is in the movie.

Stay tune for more info as The Darknight starts to reveal itself........slowly.

John Stewart's Original Job

Written by Kal-El

Here is this week's poll result guys, the answer to what was John's stewart original job before he was chosen to become a member of the Green Lantern Corp, Stewart is an Architect who was selected by the Guardians as Hal Jordan’s backup after Guy Gardner was seriously injured in a disaster. Although Jordan objected after seeing that Stewart had a belligerent attitude to authority figures, the Guardians stood by their selection.

So there you go guys, for those who didn't get it right, do not despair. We thank you for your support.

The Silver Surfer Arrives

Written by GL

If you all don't already know it, the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer video game is already out in pirate stores around the nation. Be sure to go on the hunt for it. Kal-El and I had a look at the game at EGM and it appears a little like Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Check back in the future for a game review by our own Kal-El .

The Knight Is Dark

Take the first gander at the all new Batman suit to be worn by none-other-than Christian Bale. It looks a little like a clash between a biker suit and Guyver (the Japanese superhero). But all in all, it still looks pretty cool. The movie is gonna rock!

The Marvel Line-up That You Must Read

Written by GL

Marvel Studios has released a little bit of gossip about what's up in the cinemas for this coming lifetime. And, let me say, we've got such a wide range to expect.

'I have a writer on Captain America right now, (and) hoping to get a director on that very soon to get that into the pipeline within the next year. Same thing with Thor,' said Kevin Feige, of Marvel Studios. The Thor script has been delivered and the Captain America one is being written (for all you fans out there).

Feige talked a bit more about Captain America: 'We'll have to play with Captain America as being a patriotic propaganda machine on one hand but also being a very human Steve Rogers. An interesting, fascinating hero in his own right.' Is the script they're developing a period (like World War era) piece? 'Right now what we're developing would be about half and half.'

And what is the status of the Wolverine spinoff? "We have not signed a director yet. Fox has not signed a director yet... there's a lot of people in the mix. It's hard, I think it's very close. I think Wolverine will be released first (before Magneto).'

He added that for The Punisher 2, 'Lionsgate is putting that one (script) together with us right now. I think they'll be announcing a director in the near future and another star in the near future. The only reason I have any interest in doing another Punisher movie is to do a better Punisher movie. And if Marvel felt we wouldn't be able to do that, we wouldn't make it. We have a director, we'd like to announce an actor and a director together.'

What about a Ghost Rider 2, any plans? 'Not that I've heard, I know they're promoting the DVD right now. But no discussions yet.'

For the big screen Sub-Mariner adaptation, 'Jonathan Mostow is doing a rewrite on the script with the intention to direct, and that script should be coming in in a few weeks.'

Feige said that an Avengers movie could be possible in the future. 'What was preventing certain characters from crossing over in the past is they were all divvied up for different studios with gates between them and they couldn't play in the same sandbox. Now we have Hulk, and Thor and Captain and Iron Man and Ant Man... it would certainly indicate to me that it might be fun to see them all in the sandbox at one point. But certainly we're introducing them and building them in their own franchises first.' Zak Penn will write the script for the film.

After the Iron Man movie, the second one out of the gate for Marvel Studios' independently-produced slate is Hulk. The Hulk movie will be different from the first one 'cause this one will be good,' said Feige. 'There are certain elements of the first film that I'm proud of, there are other elements that I'm not. In looking to reboot and start the franchise fresh and new, we wanted to start with a clean slate.'

Ooooo, are you all in for the huge, huge superhero rush! Just looking at the line-up is simply amazing. How good are they all going to be and how cool the merchandise for these films is going to be are two questions that we cannot answer before the time actually comes for them to be released.

Superheroes united; for it is our time. This is our time.

The Cast For Hulk Grows

Written by GL

Oscar winner William Hurt has joined the all-star cast of Marvel Studios' The Incredible Hulk.

The movie, which Louis Leterrier is directing, sees Bruce Banner/Hulk on the run, trying to avoid capture long enough to cure the condition that turns him into a monster. Hurt will play General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, the man who has dedicated his life to capturing the Hulk; and who also is the father of Banner's love interest, Betty Ross.

Hulk seems to be getting some of the best casts so far: Hurt joins two-time Oscar nominee Edward Norton, who is playing Banner, Liv Tyler as Betty and Tim Roth as villain, Emil Blonsky/the Abomination.

Zak Penn wrote the latest big-screen adventure of the green goliath, which Universal Pictures is distributing.

The film is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige, while Jim Van Wyck, David Maisel, Ari Arad and Stan Lee executive produce. Shooting is slated to begin this summer in Toronto.

Surf's Up

With the movie coming out this weekend, Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer is at the top of the list for many comic book fans. I'm checking out one of the new movie figures tonight, and of course it's the man himself, the Silver Surfer. He's not going to blow your socks off, but he's a sight better than some of the other 5" movie figures we've gotten.

You can find all the reviews at the usual:

Buy Optimus

Written by GL

I was just doing some random surfing on Big Bad Toy Store and came across something that just blows my mind.

A company called 86 Hero has just manufactured a 6.5 foot tall figure of (none other than) Optimus Prime. Mother of many monkeys! That's about the same height as Kal-El! Check out the below script from the website:

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the immense size of this item, it can only be shipped on a pallet to a location with a loading dock or other receiving facility. The statue comes in several large pieces that require minor assembly, and it will be packed in four huge shipping boxes on pallets. The statue weighs around 175 pounds (80kg), stands over 6.5 feet tall (2 Meters), and is limited to only 200 pieces worldwide. This item is fully licensed by Hasbro. The shipping fee for Domestic customers will be between $300 to $600 depending on your location, please disregard the shipping fee the system generates as this will be a custom semi-truck shipment. We may be able to work out a special shipping scenario to individuals without a dock, but it would likely be quite expensive, you might look into having it shipped to a work address or contact a local small business.

This monster is going for US$3999 or B$6200! Only for the richest, or the craziest, collector out there.

Note: I didn't choose to post the website image of figure because I haven't been able to find a suitable picture that represents the above figure accurately. See if you guys can find one.

The Princess & The Last Son

Written by GL

Which female do you know of who would be the best to lay the smack down on the man of steel? Of course. Wonder Woman.

The Wonder Woman vs. Superman is a 16-inch statue (that's not small, people). And, as you can see, the detail is amazing; down to Wonder Woman's wind-blown hair to Superman's cape. The fact that something like this could be so well made is pretty cool - from the actual lasso to the gesturing.

Going for US$164.99 or B$255 at Big Bad Toy Store. Get it and make all other Bruneian collectors hold their heads down in shame.

One of the greatest Marvel heroes ever known, Captain America has been around ever since I was a child. And now that I have rekindled the child in me, 2007 is the year that he dies.

This commemorative head bust is finished in bronze and features an engraved plaque (as shown). The figure itself is limited to 2007 pieces only and comes with a numbered based and a certificate of authenticity.

Check out Entertainment Earth where this awesome piece should be going for just under B$80. Live free, citizen.

Bumblebee Unleashed

Written by GL

For US$29.99 or B$41.58, you could do many things (like treat yourself to 20 or 30 Jollibee spaghettis). Or you could be smart and try to lay your hands on the very first of the Transformers Unleashed Series - Bumblebee.

Everyone's favourite little bug has the honor of being the first figure to come out of the line. But keep in mind, he (or she?) does not transform. Bumblebee will only stand around and make your room look totally awesome.

Bumblebee Unleashed is set for release this month and stands at around about 7 inches. Roll-out!

You Have Officially Missed 3 Fantastic Waves

Written by GL

My apologies for the title of this blog entry. You can't blame me for being a little bitter about the whole fact that we, here in Brunei, have just missed 3 waves of the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer action figure line. And not many of us have the convenience nor the money to afford shipping of these wonderful lines.

Just so everyone knows: I want this line. If you've missed waves 1 and 2, I suggest you back-track on the net to find out what you've missed. The line just gets better and better in detail as time goes on - as you can see.

For the above line, you've got Human Torch with Thing's hands, Mr. Fantastic with all those absorbed fantastic powers, an awesome looking Silver Surfer, and the Dr. Doom on a flying thingy.

Check this set up at Entertainment Earth. The movie is in two days so be quick and don't miss out.
